One of the most popular travel rewards credit cards in Canada, the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card was first reviewed by Rewards Canada in 2014 when it was introduced. For the better part of six years the card didn't change very much but then we saw the entire Air Canada Aeroplan saga transpire for numerous years which culminated in Air Canada buying Aeroplan back from Aimia and launching a whole new Aeroplan in November of 2020 along with refreshed credit card offerings. This mainstay Aeroplan card from TD underwent many changes for the new program and thus the need for this updated review.
The HSBC World Elite Mastercard is a relatively new card in the Canadian market. This is not their 'Premier World Elite' which is meant for people who bank at HSBC but rather this card is for any Canadian and it is essentially the same as the Premier version. When HSBC launched this card in late 2018 it became obvious they didn't want to only market their credit cards to those who bank with them, rather they wanted to get into the entire lucrative Canadian credit card market. It was about time they did as Canadians, slow as they may have been to adapt, are learning they don't have to get credit cards from the bank they bank with, rather they can get whatever card they like and HSBC wants part of that pie.

We updated our review of the American Express® Gold Rewards Card
today. This card which we first reviewed in 2010 is one of the best
travel cards in Canada, in fact it was the best from 2011 to 2017 until
the Cobalt Card came out. Over the years we had some piece meal
updates to that review so we thought it's time to do a complete
refresh for 2022 especially seeing that it was revamped in 2021. See

The CIBC Dividend® Visa Infinite* Card is the next card to receive the Rewards Canada review treatment. Thanks to a revamp several years ago the card came back to the forefront of the cash back market and in fact here at Rewards Canada we ranked it as the number one cash back card for a short while after those changes. At this time we still rank it as the best "true" cash back credit card in the market as this card takes second place only to the American Express Cobalt Card - which isn't a "true" cash back card but does provide the best cash back redemption value in the Canadian market. Today we released an update to our review of the MBNA Alaska Airlines World Elite Mastercard. The card was first reviewed on Rewards Canada in 2013 and I have to apologize to our readers as I don't think did an full fledged update on it since then so some of it was out of date. Now that's all fixed and the review is fresh for 2022 and I promise to keep an eye on it and update more frequently as required. The card itself isn't well known to most Canadians but is somewhat of a hidden gem and a favourite in the points and miles community. Read our review here to find out why!

The best hotel credit card in Canada is the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card and in fact is one of the best overall travel rewards credit cards! It consistently ranks in the Top 5 Cards in Canada in our annual rankings thanks to its ability to provide huge outsized value and by providing some amazing benefits that can be used year after year. We hope with this review that more Canadians can learn about the value hotel loyalty programs can provide as the last major survey showed only 13% of Canadians participated in a hotel loyalty program.
Falling into the Rewards Canada "Hotel" category the consumer version of this card used to always take top spot in that category in our annual credit card rankings. However with the demise of most hotel credit cards in Canada we no longer have a hotel category. However the consumer version still ranks in the Top 5 Cards overall in Canada so in reality this card is right there as well since s it is very similar to the consumer Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card.
Ranked as the number one travel points credit card with an annual fee in Canada, the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card was last reviewed by Rewards Canada in 2015, some three years after it was introduced in 2012. It was the first American Express card issued by a bank other than Amex Bank of Canada since CIBC tried the partnership in 2002. The card underwent some massive changes in 2019 so it is really due for a new updated review here on Rewards Canada!
