50% Off Business Class Award Tickets between Edmonton & Europe, 25% off for Calgary and Toronto

The newest set of Air France KLM’s Promo Rewards will be released around 6pm ET tonight (November 30) and this month we see a trio of Canadian cities included. With promo rewards the discount ranges from 20 to 50% off the regular amount of miles required to redeem for these flights. As you can see just by the discount this can be a very good offer if you get 50% off for Business Class and that's the case for flights on KLM out of Edmonton! For Calgary and Toronto the discount is 25% off business class.

Offer details
December Promo Rewards – Save 20% to 50% on the Award Miles usually required for an award ticket. Destinations vary by each promotional period. Full Details  Book by Dec 31 for travel Feb 1 – Mar 31, 20

This month's Canadian cities:
Calgary - 25% off business class on KLM
Edmonton - 50% off business class on KLM
Toronto - 25% off business class on Air France or KLM

Here are the mileage requirements for flying from Canada to Amsterdam or Paris (the mileage amount will vary for other cities in Europe).

As we mentioned above you can't book these just yet which also means we can't provide you with snap shots of availability like we usually do (we'll have a follow up post for that) You'll have to wait until about 6pm tonight to see availability on the routes and to book them. The mileage amounts required will vary by the location you want to fly to, for example you can usually fly to Brussels, Milan, Athens and other cities for less miles than what is listed above for Amsterdam or Paris.

If you don't have enough miles for a Promo Reward your best bet is to convert Marriott Bonvoy points to Flying Blue on a 3:1 basis. Remember you'll earn 5,000 bonus miles when you convert 60,000 points at a time (a total of 25,000 miles per 60,000 points) That means 120,000 points will get you to 50,000 miles which is more than enough to cover a round trip flight between Vancouver and Rome, Lisbon or Warsaw in premium economy class!

If you don't have any Marriott Rewards Points you can always look at getting the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card to top off your account. Currently the card comes with a 50,000 point sign up bonus when you spend $1,500 on the card and then you could also grab the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card as it also has 50,000 point sign up bonus. You would then ultimately be able to have 100,000 points which can be converted 3 to 1 to Flying Blue Miles plus Marriott will kick in an additional 5,000 miles for every 60,000 points transferred.  Of course timing of getting the card(s) now, spending and getting the points will likely not happen for this month but it sets you up for future offers.  Need to grab two tickets for an itinerary? You could choose to get one Marriott card for yourself and one for your partner or spouse and you'll have a lot more points!

November 29 Update: More Black Friday Cyber Monday deals, Tangerine page on main site & last day to enter our contest!

It's Black Friday and there so many offers out in the market now, in fact too many to keep up with! I am literally updating our Black Friday Cyber Monday Deals page a couple of times per hour right now so be sure to keep checking it! We just updated the Rakuten offer, Kaligo, TAP, and Singapore Airlines (for flights out of the U.S, $499 round trip from LA to Tokyo!) Visit the page here.

Now that Tangerine offers multiple credit cards we have created a dedicated page on our website for Tangerine credit cards and bank accounts You'll find the link to the page in our drop down menu on the navigation bar on the main Rewards Canada site. Visit the page here.

Today is the last day to enter our contest celebrating Aeroplan's Black Friday Cyber Monday deals. Be sure to enter so you can have a chance to win 10,000 Aeroplan miles! Enter the contest here.

TIP OF THE DAY:
You may notice that we tweet and/or have Facebook posts that mention "Last Few days" of so and so offer. This is to give you a heads up of offers that are ending like hotel stay bonuses (or at least when registration closes for them) and also for limited time credit card welcome offers that are ending. Due to contractual obligations in many cases we cannot let you know what the new offers are that are coming out but if you don't hear anything from us on social media or the blog then there is a good chance the next offer on the card you are interested in will be the same or better. If however we do mention "last few days" or something to that matter there is a really good chance the new offer will not be as good or at least as high as the offer that is coming to a close. Now with so many offers I will probably miss mentioning some but will do my best to let you know about the more popular ones. I hope this helps you in your decision making process when it comes to jumping on an offer!

Introducing the Tangerine World Mastercard® - Earn up to 4% cash back

Apply to the Tangerine World Mastercard

Tangerine Bank doubled the size of their credit card offerings today as they have released the Tangerine World Mastercard®. It is the first premium card in Tangerine's card portfolio after their pretty popular Tangerine Money-Back credit card. If you are familiar with or have the Money-Back credit card you'll be familiar with this card as it isn't too far off that first card.

This new card offers the same earn rates as its entry level compatriot but adds in some extra benefits including CDW Insurance (Car Rental collision), Mobile Device Insurance and Mastercard Airport Experiences which is a complimentary airport lounge and benefits program. It also adds in Purchase Assurance and Extended Warranty which is a standard feature on pretty much all premium cards in many entry level cards in the market. What makes this new card stand out is that it provides all these new benefits with no annual fee. The card does have a annual minimum income requirement of $60,000 personal or $100,000 household.

Just like the Money-Back version of the card, the Tangerine World Mastercard has launched with the same limited time welcome offer that provides 4% cash back in two categories that you select (three categories if you choose to deposit the cash back into a Tangerine savings account) for three months. After that period the rate returns to the standard 2% in your selected categories and 0.5% on all other spending.

These are the spending categories you can choose from to earn the higher cash back rates:

Here are the details of the new features on this card:
  • The CDW insurance covers car rentals of up to 31 days
  • The Mobile Device Insurance covers up to $1,000 if your device is stolen, lost or accidentally damaged or fails
  • The Mastercard Airport Experiences provides the annual membership  (think Priority Pass, see our Guide to Business Class lounge access) where you will have to pay US$32 per visit to access the airport lounges in the programs. It also provides exclusive dining, retail and spa offers - and this includes complimentary massages.
You can get complimentary massages with the Mastercard Airport Experiences

  • Purchase Assurance provides 90 days of coverage if an item you buy on the card is lost, stolen or damaged.
  • Extended Warranty doubles the manufacturer warranty on products you purchase to a maximum of 1 year

It is nice to see Tangerine expand its portfolio of cards and add a card that provides more benefits. Those of you who have the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card and meet the income requirements of this new card should move up to it as it is the same earn and you still pay no annual fee but get those additional benefits. And for those who have had their eye on the Money-Back Credit Card but held off because of the lack of benefits, well now you may have to reconsider with the Tangerine World Mastercard.

The card details below show the latest offers on this card and may not be representative of the discussion above:

Only a few days left for the highest ever sign up bonus on the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card

Here is a friendly reminder that the current bonus of up to 40,000 Aeroplan Miles on the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card will come to end this weekend as new offers will released on December 2.

Now before you jump on the offer you should be aware that the requirements to reach 40,000 miles are a bit tougher than the 30,000 miles offer earlier in the year. When you receive the card you will be awarded with 15,000 Aeroplan miles on the first purchase made. Then you will receive double Aeroplan miles on eligible purchases in the first three months, up to 20,000 miles, for a total of 35,000 miles.  This is all with the first year annual fee of $120 waived on the primary card. You can also earn an additional 5,000 miles when you add an authorized user to your account (an additional card, formerly known as supplementary card). The latter however is still subject to the $50 annual fee. Of course if you have a TD All Inclusive Banking plan you don't ever pay fees on the primary or first additional card. Even if you fore go the additional card (you're single or don't want to pay the $50) the 35,000 Aeroplan miles you can earn at no cost other than your credit card spend is higher than any other bonus we have seen on the card before.

Now, what you need to consider is how you go about getting the most miles possible because to earn 35,000 miles you need to max out your spend on the card in the first three months to take advantage of double Aeroplan miles. If we take the 20,000 mile maximum earn for double miles it will take $6,666.67 to $10,000 in card spend to get all the miles possible. That means you need to budget just over $2,200 to $3,333 in spending per month.  The range in spend is due to the earn rates on the card, the card earns 1.5 Aeroplan miles per eligible dollar spent on grocery, gas, drugstore and aircanada.com purchases which translates to 3 miles per dollar during the double mile earning period. All other purchase earn 1 Aeroplan mile per dollar which doubles to 2 per dollar during those first three months. If you have been planning some home renos, booking a vacation, buying a car, etc. this would be the time to do it and put that spend on this card to get you the most miles.

I would also recommend that if you play the credit card sign up bonus game or are a credit card churner - you may want to take a break from other cards when you get this card.  The reason why is so you can focus your spend to reach that 20,000 double mile limit without stretching your finances to meet the minimum spend requirements on other cards at the same time. We've heard too many stories of people scrambling because they signed up for and received too many cards in a short period of time and struggled to hit the minimums to earn the welcome bonuses.

That aside - once you do have this card and have earned the 35,000 to 40,000 Aeroplan miles at no expense for the former and only $50 for the latter you have a lot of travel reward value at your disposal. Looking at the Aeroplan Classic Flight reward chart there are lots of round trip options that run from 15,000 to 40,000 miles and even more one way options since they are exactly half of the rates listed on the chart:

Here are some of the possible redemption options for the 35,000 mile level:
  • 2 Round Trip Economy Class Short Haul tickets (with 5,000 miles left over)
  • 1 Round Trip Economy Class Long Haul ticket in Canada and the U.S. (with 10,000 miles left over)
  • 1 One Way Economy Class Ticket to South America or Europe (with 5,000 to 10,000 miles left over)
Here are some redemption options at the 40,000 mile level:
  • 1 Round Trip Premium Economy Class Long Haul ticket in Canada and the U.S.
  • 1 Round Trip Economy Class Short Haul ticket and 1 Round Trip Economy Class Long Haul ticket in Canada and the U.S.
  • 1 One Way Economy Class ticket to Asia (with 2,500 miles left over)
  • 1 One Way Premium Economy Class ticket to Europe (with 2,500 miles left over)
The value you get out of the sign up bonus will really vary based on what you redeem your miles on. For example a one way business class ticket from Toronto to Los Angeles and then returning in economy class would cost you 37,500 miles plus taxes and fees for a flight combination that will be well north of $2,000 or over 5 cents of value per mile. Other redemption options may push over 7 cents per mile or you may be as low as 1.2 cents but even at that lowest level that is still up to $480 in value - not many cards can provide that sort of value just with their welcome miles or points.

Find out more and apply for the card here by December 1 .
