IHG One Rewards summer promo: Earn up to 4x points on stays in Canada and Worldwide

 

IHG Hotels & Resorts have revealed their first global promotion after the revamp of the loyalty program, One Rewards. This new offer awards up to 4x points on all eligible stays worldwide. The promotion is now open for registration and booking for stays completed between May 18 and August 31, 2022.

The wait is finally over. The refreshed and revamped IHG Hotels & Resorts loyalty program is here. Now branded as IHG One Rewards, the program that has had a quite few names through its history is upping its game for those who stay frequently at the chain's 6,000 hotels worldwide. The first update to the program was revealed this past January and that provided a peek at the changes to the elite status tiers which included some name changes and the addition of one more tier. Today, the rest of the new program was revealed and included such things as more benefits for elite members and milestone rewards.

Receive a 100% bonus when you buy IHG Rewards Points by April 14

 
We see the return of an IHG Rewards' buy points bonus flash sale this week.  This time it is a flat 100% bonus for all members who  purchase 5,000 or more points at a time.For this promotion they have not raised the annual limit of points that you can buy which means you can buy 150,000 points (not including the bonus)

We see the return of an IHG Rewards' buy points bonus offer for the next month and a bit and this time it is a mystery bonus. Some members will receive a 100% bonus offer while others will get a different offer, like the 80% we received here at Rewards Canada.  The bonus is offered when you purchase 5,000 or more points at a time and for this promotion they have not raised the annual limit of points that you can buy.

IHG Rewards announces changes to the program starting with the elite status tiers

Earlier today we brought you the new global IHG Rewards bonus points offer and in that post mentioned the hotel chain has more news that was released today. That news is about changes coming to the IHG Rewards program in March and today they only revealed the first of the program's updates and that is to the elite status portion program. The changes in elite status include renaming the Spire tier to Diamond, adding an additional tier, changing the qualification requirements and adjusting the bonus points earned by elite members.

Receive IHG Rewards Platinum Elite Status after staying only 5 nights (Fast Track offer)

IHG Rewards has brought back their fast track offer to elite status that we saw during the last half of 2020 and for most of 2021. They did make one small change to the offer – they got rid of the 2 nights for Gold Status that we saw with the previous offers. This version is strictly complete 5 nights in 90 days to receive Platinum Status.

Earn up to 3x points for stays at IHG Hotels & Resorts in Canada and Worldwide

 

IHG Hotels & Resorts are banking on their members making multiple stays with their next systemwide promotion. Members of IHG Rewards can now register for this offer that provide up to 3x points for stays between October 1 and December 31, 2021. The catch is that to earn 3x points you'll have stay three times, that is on your first stay there is no bonus, your second stay will 2x points and then from your third stay on you will earn the 3x points. If you have a lot of IHG stays planned then this isn't too bad of promotion, especially if you are staying a pricier hotels as offers where it is 2x and 3x are most rewarding when you pay more for a stay. However for some this offer may not even be on the radar since this is the only major hotel chain not offering a bonus on your first stay - all the other's systemwide promos award some sort of bonus even on the first stay.

100% bonus when you buy IHG Rewards Points by September 9

 
We see the return of IHG Rewards Club’s buy points bonus offer as a Flash Sale for the start of September  The promotion is a 100% bonus when you purchase 7,000 or more points at a time and once again the annual purchase limit has been raised to 250,000 points before the bonus.

Earn up to 6,000 bonus IHG Rewards points for multiple night stays

 
Check your email in-box to see if you have been targeted for this offer. IHG Rewards sent out a pre-registration email yesterday and it appears a lot of members are receiving it. The offer awards 3,000 bonus points on your first stay of 2 or more nights plus an additional 3,000 bonus points on your next stay of 2 or more nights. The promotion is for stays between August 19 and September 30.

IHG Rewards systemwide global promotion for the remainder of spring and the better part of the summer has been revealed. The promotion has been developed to encourage multiple stays with the brand as there is no bonus on your first stay. You have to complete multiple stays to start earning bonus points. You’ll earn 2x points on your second stay and 3x points on your third and every stay after that.

IHG Rewards Fast Track to Elite Status returns - Stay 2 nights get Gold, 5 nights get Platinum

 
IHG Rewards has brought back their fast track offer to elite status that we saw during the last half of 2020. The offer makes it very easy to obtain status in the recently rebranded IHG Rewards program! It is perfect for those who don’t have status in the program as it takes very few nights to reach elite with this promotion. The main difference between this 2021 version of the offer from 2020 is that there is now a 90 day time limit for completing the required nights whereas in 2020 you had until the date the promotion ended which was December 31. So in this case you'll want to time your registration for the offer correctly so that you can make sure you can complete the 2 or 5 nights within those 90 days. And that brings us to the elite status you get. After you register if you complete 2 nights within those 90 days you'll be granted IHG Rewards Gold Status. Complete 5 nights and Platinum Status is yours. By comparison if you don't register it would take a COVID-19 adjusted level of 7 nights to earn Gold Status or 30 nights to reach Platinum. As you can see it doesn’t take a lot of nights to earn status with this offer!

IHG Hotels & Resorts' New Hotel Openings in Canada for 2021 - 5 hotels in the works including the Holiday Inn Gatineau - Ottawa

We continue our new hotel openings in Canada series with this latest post where we take a look at what IHG Hotels & Resorts has planned for 2021.

 IHG Hotels & Resorts (nee InterContinental Hotels Group) is one of the largest hotel chains in the world best known for their Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands. IHG however comprises of 16 brands in total and well over 5,900 hotels Worldwide. They have a significant presence here in Canada with nearly 200 hotels from coast to coast.

IHG Rewards Club first promo of 2021: Earn 2,000 bonus points after every 2 nights for stays in Canada and Worldwide

 

 IHG becomes the next hotel chain to provide details of their first major promotion of 2021. The follow in the footsteps of Hilton, Marriott and Choice who have already released their offers (or details of them) and IHG’s offer is similar to Marriott’s in that their is an elite status component. The offer awards 2,000 bonus points for every 2 nights you complete at IHG hotels Worldwide. The nights do not have to be consecutive or on the same stay. As well all bonus points earned with this promotion will count towards elite status.

October 23 Update: Double PC Optimum or Esso Extra points at Esso & Mobil this weekend, IHG extends the Ambassador free night offer, Air Transat winter flight schedule

This weekend you can earn double the PC Optimum or Esso Extra points at participating Esso and Mobil stations across Canada. The offer runs Oct 23-25. `

Airline Schedule Updates
A summary Canadian operations based on data from RoutesOnline and other sources. Remember that many of these route plans are subject to change and right now they are changing frequently!

Air Transat has published their schedule for the winter season and the list is quite a bit bigger now so I won't post it here. I can't recall if I covered this before in this spot but for the Winter season KLM will be returning to Edmonton as part of the airline's Calgary service. 2 of 5 flights per week between Calgary and Amsterdam will have a stop in Edmonton. Meanwhile Toronto is being bumped up to 9 flights per week and Vancouver is being scaled back to 3. (Source RoutesOnline)
