There is one more new Marriott Hotel set to open this year now. The Residence Inn Laval has popped up on Marriott's website and right now they are stating an opening date of December 2022. If you recall from our post on New Marriott Hotel Openings in Canada for 2022 the year started off with just 6 new hotels planned for this year. This is now the ninth hotel on the list however it does not appear that the Moxy Banff or Moxy Halifax will make their opening this year now so we may me end up with seven new hotels for this year. This new hotel in Laval is situated right near the Cosmodome museum and was formerly a Quality Suites Hotel. Click here to learn more about this new hotel.

The Pacific Gateway Hotel in Richmond (right near Vancouver International Airport) will become the Radisson Blu Vancouver Airport Hotel sometime here in the near future. This will mark the end of the hotel's affiliation with the Preferred Hotel Group I Prefer program. There aren't many details yet of the changeover and whether it is simply a rebranding or if there will be renovations involved as well. This location will become the second Radisson Blu Hotel in Canada after the Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown which opened several years ago. There is no published opening date at this time for the hotel but it does appear to be open and still operating as The Pacific Gateway Hotel. Depending on when the change happens you'll earn and burn your Radisson Rewards Americas points here or your Choice Privilege points seeing that the latter has now bought out Radisson Hotels Americas. American Express' Centurion Lounge in San Francisco will be closing on September 6 for renovations and expansion. This is a much needed expansion of the lounge as already a few years ago the place was crowded. I can recall our family of four could not find a space to sit here the last time we transited SFO and that seems to be general consensus for this lounge. As of September 12 they will be offering grab and go pre-packaged food and non-alcoholic drink options in front of the lounge entrance that cardmembers will be able to enjoy.
