December 30 Update: World of Hyatt awarding points for expiring vouchers & earn 500 bonus points for stays at the Le Westin Montreal

One more follow up to the couple of posts we have had about expiring points & vouchers, specifically World of Hyatt and that program not extending points or vouchers. There is confirmation on several U.S. blogs that you can either call in or online chat via the mobile app with World of Hyatt to have any vouchers that are set to expire on December 31 converted into points. The amount of points awarded depends on the vouchers and according to One Mile at a Time can range from 500 points for a Club Access award to 20,000 points for Category 1-7 free night award. I'll be testing this out later today as I have a couple of Club Access vouchers that are due to expire! (HT One Mile at a Time)

UPDATE: The free points Hyatt gave last December for the wellness video and the points for converting vouchers DO NOT COUNT towards extending your points expiry. If your points are due to expire tomorrow your best course of action is to buy some points right now (we did here at Rewards Canada)

December 29 Update: 3,000 bonus points for stays at the newest Marriott ski hotel, more Rewards Canada updates & a new online shopping portal to earn miles

There is another Marriott hotel stay bonus here in Canada. This one is for one of their newest hotels that we have featured on Rewards Canada several times over the past few months. That hotel is The Josie Hotel, Autograph Collection at Red Mountain Ski Resort near Rossland B.C.. As a grand opening special they are offering 3,000 bonus points for stays of 2 or more nights. We checked it out and it's one of those offers that borders on being worthwhile or not. Depending on the days booked the bonus point rate ranged from $10 to well over $20 more per night over the Member Flexible Rate. On those days where it is only $10 more it might be worth it to go for the points but on nights where it is $20 or more not so much. Click here for more details & to book this offer.

Earn up to 1,000 free miles when you join EVA Air Infinity MileageLands + earn up to 1,000 bonus miles per flight

I wonder if EVA Air hired a new head of loyalty as something is definitely up at the Infinity MileageLands program. The program has been extremely quiet for many years and now all of a sudden they introduce a buy miles option (With an introductory 65% bonus right now), they launch an online shopping portal: The EVA Mileage Mall with options to shop online in 12 countries around the globe and they launch a new member acquisition offer.  This new member acquisition offer awards 500 miles just for joining Infinity MileageLands plus an additional 500 miles when you complete your membership profile for 1,000 free miles in total. Simply join by June 30, 2022 to earn the free miles.

Looks like we might have a challenger to the famous StayVancouver promotions that awards Amex gift cards for each night you stay at hotels booked through them. While we have seen many tourism boards provide gift card/prepaid card offers most of them outside of the StayVancouver offer are limited to one card regardless of how many nights you stay. Well it looks like Tourism Kingston wants to challenge StayVancouver as their latest incentive provides a $100 Visa Gift PER NIGHT not per stay when you book at least 2 nights and they award it for up to 5 nights for $500 in total gift cards.  

500 bonus points per night for stays at the Element Vancouver Metrotown

 

A new Marriott Bonvoy bonus points offer came out this month for stays at the Element Vancouver Metrotown. The offer provides 500 bonus points per night and free self parking for all stays until February 28.  A quick check of how the offer prices against the Best Member Flexible Rate shows that this package is slight more expensive. Not a lot and could be worth it if you do need the parking - if you don't need the parking skip the bonus points offer. See the example below.
