If you are planning on travel to or from the Yukon check out Air North's Aurora Flight Passes. These passes include four one-way flight segments for as little as $1027 all in for use between Whitehorse and Vancouver (in either direction) and can be used by two people. Essentially one pass will net you a round trip flight for two or two round trips for a single traveler. You can also use the passes for other cities Air North flies to but you have to pay an extra fee of $61.25 (tax incl) per segment. Hyatt is out with another buy points offer and this time it is a discount instead of a bonus. When you buy 5,000 or more points in one transaction they will give a 30% discount on the price. This is different than the typical 30 to 40% bonus that we usually see with Hyatt. With the discount the price works out to 1.68 cents (US) per points which is lower than the 1.714 cents per point (US$) seen when they run their highest 40% bonus. When redeemed it can be pretty easy to receive a value of 2 cents per point or higher so you can see it could be worthwhile to purchase them for rewards around the globe or even if you just need a few thousand points to top off for an award.
World of Hyatt has revealed the details of their next systemwide Bonus Journeys offer. The promotion rewards World of Hyatt members with double points on all qualifying stays of 2+ nights at over 1,100 hotels worldwide including participating MGM Resort destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World hotels and Lindblad Expeditions. On top of this the promotion also will reward double elite night credits at 65+ participating Inclusive Collection resorts.

This update wasn't as substantial as some of the last few Ultimate portfolios as we only changed one card in it from when we originally made this portfolio in 2017! The recommended American Express Card is now the Platinum Card from American Express instead of the American Express Cobalt Card. The Hyatt Place Montréal – Downtown has opened its doors early! This hotel that was featured in our article New Hyatt Hotel Openings in Canada for 2022 and the last time we checked it was scheduled to open in July 3 but that appears to have been bumped up and they are open for business. It makes sense to try to open prior to the Canada Day long weekend!
Hyatt has come out with yet another buy points offer and this time they have returned to a bonus. When you buy 5,000 or more points in one transaction they will give a 30% bonus. This is a decent bonus if you need points right now or want to save on some more expensive summer stays with Hyatt. The price per point with a 30% bonus is about 1.85 cents (US$) which is higher than the 1.68 cents we saw during the last promotion with a 30% discount.

Hyatt has introduced a new portfolio of all inclusive resorts that they are calling the Inclusive Collection Resorts. This comes after they acquired several brands and this new collection features over 50 locations from 9 luxury resort brands. To celebration the launch of this new collection World of Hyatt members can earn 5,000 bonus points for stays of 3 or more nights at these properties between May 15 and September 15. Nearly a year ago JetBlue Airways announced they were launching flights to Canada - more specifically Vancouver and that got me wondering as to when the flights would be starting up!, JetBlue has published those start dates and we'll see Vancouver-New York JFK launch in June 9 while Vancouver-Boston will launch on June 16. Both of these routes are available for purchase on JetBlue's site. The New York JFK flight will be operated with an Airbus A320 while the Boston flight will be an Airbus A220 - so unfortunately no Mint Products are available on these flights. That's too bad as the flights departing from Vancouver are redeyes and it would be great to have those Mint seats as an option!

An update for our series on New Hotel Openings in Canada to bring you. This one comes to us from Hyatt who have now published the World of Hyatt Category for the new Hyatt Centric Ville-Marie Montreal. The hotel will open later this year as a Category 3 hotel which means it will require 12,000 points for a standard award night, 9,000 for Off Peak and 15,000 for Peak. With only three hotels opening in Canada this year we now have the complete picture of the categories as one is a Category 2 hotel and the other two are Category 3 hotels. Hyatt's World of Hyatt program announced their annual hotel category changes today. These are the hotels that will be moving up or down in the eight categories that the program has. It is not a change to the actual categories or points requirements themselves as those stay the same. Overall the program will see 146 hotels changing worldwide, 70 will be moving to a higher category (69 move up one, 1 hotel moves up two categories) while 76 will move down in their categories. Here in Canada we have two of the current 16 hotels falling into those 70 hotels that are moving up.
