Air France KLM Flying Blue Promo Rewards are working now - save 25% on economy class reward flights between Canada and Europe

 
Earlier this week we had a post covering September's Flying Blue Promo Rewards which are the discounted reward flight offers from Air France and KLM. In that post I mentioned that I could not find any of the discounted fares from Edmonton, Montreal or Toronto. I even tried Mexico City, Dubai, Johannesburg and Vancouver - all cities that are on the list to be discounted but no luck. So I reached out to Air France to see if there was an issue and sure enough we alerted to them to a mistake they had in loading the fares to their system. That seems to be all fixed now and the discounts are showing for the Canadian cities being offered for this month.

In an unannounced move American Express has also now added a NEXUS benefit to The Platinum Card like they will be doing for the revamped Gold Rewards Card. Platinum Cardmembers will receieve up to a $100 statement credit every four years. (HT Canadian Rewards)

Earn 10,000 bonus AeroMexico Club Premier Points with just one Choice Hotels stay

Over the course of this year AeroMexico and Choice Hotels have run some very lucrative stay promotions. First it was up to 10,000 points for one stay in March and April then they had up to 15,000 points for one stay in June/July and now they have returned with a flat 10,000 bonus point offer for September. This latest offer has small stay windows – Sep 1 to 11 and Sep 20 to 30 so there isn’t a lot of time to take advantage of it. I do want to advise everyone on one potential issue with this promotion and that is having it post to your account. One of our long time readers Davidd418 has had a heck of a time getting the 10,000 points from the first promotion for a stay in Mexico but did eventually get them after many months and many emails. Earn 100 Aeroplan Points for every $5 donated to the Canadian Red Cross + a chance to win 250K Aeroplan Points

During the month of September if you donate to the Canadian Red Cross you will earn Aeroplan points for doing so. Members will earn 100 points for every $5 donated and if you donate $100 or more you'll also be entered for a chance to win one of two 250,000 Aeroplan points prizes. We see the return of IHG Rewards Club’s buy points bonus offer as a Flash Sale for the start of September  The promotion is a 100% bonus when you purchase 7,000 or more points at a time and once again the annual purchase limit has been raised to 250,000 points before the bonus.

CIBC will become the new issuer of Costco Mastercards

American Express weren't the only ones wanting to release big credit card news today as only a few short hours later CIBC issued a press release with news a lot of people have been waiting for. The bank announced this morning that they will become the exclusive issuer of Costco Mastercards in Canada. The long term agreement is expected to start early in 2022.

The revamped American Express Gold Rewards Card details are revealed!

 Back in May we had a post in our series on Canadian cards due for an overhaul that covered the American Express Gold Rewards card. At that time we had no knowledge of the changes that would happen to the Cobalt Card only a few short months later and heralded the fact the Gold Rewards Card was still one of the best in Canada. We actually put our opinion out there that the card was only due for a tweaking not an overhaul. However with the changes to the American Express Cobalt Card it pretty much made the Gold Rewards Card in its present form obsolete. There was speculation, even on our part based on emails we had received that the Gold Rewards card was going to be discontinued but that was quickly corrected that the card was only being paused for a revamp.

For the second month in a row we see Air France KLM Flying Blue's Promo Rewards feature cities in  Canada! Due to the pandemic and shut down of international travel for the greater part of that time these discounted award flight offers had mostly been limited to flights within Europe and to French/Dutch overseas possessions over the past 8-10 months. But as of last month they made a return to Canada and for this month they are back again however they swap out Calgary for Edmonton and add in Toronto as well.

Etihad Airways, which flies to Toronto from Abu Dhabi are celebrating their 15th birthday with a promotion that award 1,500 free Etihad Guest Miles to all members who register for the offer. They are also offering a 15% rebate on award redemptions which would include their Toronto flights. Both offers are available until September 6. Learn more here.
