There is one page on the main Rewards Canada site that sees a good amount of traffic but we believe it gets overlooked a good majority of our readers who aren't aware of it or forgot about it! That page is our Route Bonus Listing. This page lists all the current bonuses that Canadians can earn on flights around the globe. The list presents all the actual Canadian options first such as flights within Canada or flights originating in Canada to anywhere in the World. The remainder of the listing shows systemwide bonuses next (these are offers for all flights on an airline and may include those leaving Canada) followed by the remainder of flights bonuses from around the world that Canadian's can take advantage of. The big difference between the RC version of this listing and the listing on our Global site FrequentFlyerBonuses.com is that the RC version does not list bonuses that us Canucks cannot use which are primarily offers that are only for residents of certain countries other than Canada.

Now that you have learned about the route bonus listing or have been reminded about it we thought it would be wise to post the Canadian flight portion of the list in a post on a regular basis here on the Rewards Canada blog to remind you of the bonuses that you may be able to earn on your flights! We encourage to consult this list before you book a flight anywhere in the world or even board a flight as some offers may come up after you have already booked but you can still be eligible for. If you don't check the list there is a good chance you may miss on some extra miles to be added to your account!

Jun 5 Update: New Icelandair In-Flight Safety Video, Great Alitalia bonus for Accor stays, Free La Quinta Returns Points

Today was a little bit quieter on the travel rewards news and bonus offer front!

Yesterday Icelandair released their new inflight safety video on Youtube. It is already starting to get some attention on social media and rightfully so. Following in the footsteps of airline like Air New Zealand, who are vey famous for their various unconvential safety videos, Icelandair has produced their own non-convential video. Unlike Air New Zealand who go for more of a comedic approach, Icelandair has instead gone for a tourism approach by integrating highlights of Iceland in the video. Here it is for your enjoyment, I hope you like it as much as I did. Now the question is when will Air Canada do something like this with their inflight videos?

A heads up for anyone who may have booked a revenue or Aeroplan award ticket on Air Canada's flights between Toronto and St. Martin for travel late in 2014 or early 2015 as that route will be taken over by Air Canada Rouge. (Source: airlineroute.net)

Hotel Review: Hotel Le Germain Toronto

Not too long ago a client of mine put me up at the Hotel Le Germain in Toronto. There isn't too much to review as my arrival into YYZ was around 11:20pm and I arrived at the boutique hotel at Midnight with me checking out by 8am! At check in there was a short wait as only one agent was working up front but another employee did offer me a free water bottle while I waited.

In a nutshell I was impressed with the room I received. It was a decent size, had a huge bathroom and was very clean and comfortable! I must add that the duvet on the bed was amazing.

The continental breakfast had a decent spread, nothing too fancy but quite a few choices which is always nice as many don't have a very big selection by comparison.

What can I say after such a short stay! I can't say too much but in the short period of time that I was at the hotel I was impressed and would definitely return for another stay. Have you ever stayed at the Hotel Le Germain in Toronto? I'd love to hear your comments to see if your stay(s) echo my experience or if my eight hour visit didn't give me the true gist of this hotel!

In the department of odd redemption options comes this offer from JAL Mileage Bank. It is not for Canadian JAL MB members but it really intrigued me as I haven't seen a redemption like this before so I thought I would pass it along! WestJet announced yesterday that all Personal Electronic Devices (PED) can be used during all phases of flights including taxi, take off and landing as long as they are in a non-transmitting or flight mode. (Source WestJet). Air Canada instituted the same policy last week on May 28th. This is perfect timing for both airlines as they are both in the process of or will shortly be introducing inflight Wi-fi.

Those of you in YYC or the Alberta region who were looking forward to flying on British Airways' new 787's in July will have to wait a bit longer as that service has been delayed until August 11th. (Source Airlineroute.net)

The earn IHG Rewards Club points earning rate for stays at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts outside of the America's will be changing on July 1st. The new rate will be 10 points per US$1 spent, which is much better than the current 2,000 per stay. Why is it better? Most InterContinental Hotels will cost you well above $200 per night which means you should be able to earn many more points with this new earning structure.

To the surprise of many people Lufthansa's Miles & More program will be discontuing their buy miles option. A very popular feature of many programs nowadays is to be able to sell miles or points to their members and it tends to be quite profitable for many of them. It could be the opposite for Miles & More hence the removal of this option. Full details

WestJet's first foray into Europe must be doing well as they have extended their summer season run between St. John's and Dublin to October 24th from the previously planned end date of October 5th. (Source Airlineroute.net)

In the bonus offers section we have the latest Aeroplan bonus for Marriott stays this summer. We usually sees some sort of varation of this promotion every winter and summer. This summer version seems to entail a lot more properties than usual here in our home country but does also come with a minimum 2 night requisite with one of those nights being a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The offer definitely caters to the lesuire traveller versus the business traveller unless you head out for work on a Sunday. As always to be able to enhance your stay you could get yourself the Marriott Premier Rewards Visa card which comes with automatic Silver Elite status which will get you slightly better treatment like late check out for your Marriott stays.

If your travels are taking you to Latin America this summer you should check out this SPG promo for Aloft Hotel stays. United Airlines will be launching a new Kelowna to San Francisco service this fall. This will be once daily flight and is good news for Aeroplan, MileagePlus and other Star Alliance members in the Okanogan area as it presents another option for earning and burning your miles. The flights will start on September 20th and be operated with a CRJ. (Source Airlineroute.net)

Air Canada must have seen lots of connections from Ontario and beyond on their Western Canada to Hawaii flights as they have announced new Air Canada rouge service between Toronto and Honolulu. The flights will operate twice weekly beginning November 26th and will run year round. (Source Airlineroute.net)

To celebrate the above mentioned new Air Canada Rouge route between YYZ and HNL, they are offering 20% off all flights to Honolulu from anywhere in Canada. The flights must be booked by Jun 10 for travel November 21st to April 30, 15. This is prime season for Hawaii, so if you can book this far out you should look into this offer. Aeroplan introduces dExclusives rewards for Distinction members - tell us which one you like for a chance to win 5,000 Aeroplan Miles!

Yesterday Aeroplan announced and launched the latest benefit for its Distinction members, dExclusives. What is dExclusives? It is an new reward option that will allow Distinction members to bid on or redeem Aeroplan miles on a wide variety of one-of-a-kind rewards.  This new reward option reminds us of SPG's Moments where you bid Starpoints on similar money can't buy experiences and is the first to be offered by a Canadian based loyalty program. This definitely can be a good reward option for those members who have more miles than they know what to do with, especially on the high end items like the FIFA World Cup or Grand Slam Tennis final offers!
