Earn 2x Mileage Plan miles on Fiji Airways' new Vancouver flight

Fiji Airways will be launching their Vancouver flights on November 25 and you can earn double Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles to celebrate. Announced this past July, Vancouver is Fiji Airways third North American gateway city after Los Angeles and San Francisco. The airline is partnered with Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan hence this bonus being put into action with them as I figure not a lot of those who will be flying with Fiji Airways out of North America are members of the airline's own Tabua Club.

It's hard to believe it has been almost six months since we posted our series on new hotel openings in Canada! We did a sweep of the new Marriott openings as a few of the locations were supposed to be opening right around now. As is the case with many new hotels however those dates have been pushed back slightly but it does look like we have firm dates in place now for four of the six new locations! North Bay's Fairfield Inn & Suites is actually set to open tomorrow (June 30) while Marriott looks to have a trio of openings in late July with the W Toronto finally opening its doors and Calgary's The Dorian and Courtyard Downtown (Both occupy the same high rise) also opening. Receive up to a 50% bonus when you buy Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles

Alaska Airlines has launched a new buy miles offer that runs until December 23rd. This time the bonus once again ranges from 30% to 50% depending on how many miles you buy. Ideally you want to buy so you get that 50% bonus which means you’d have to buy 30,000 or more miles. We see the 50% bonus quite frequently now but we also see 60% quite often now as well so unless you really need the miles right now you may want to wait to buy.

Air Canada Aeroplan has once again extended their flexible change policy for Aeroplan flight rewards. The extension now sees Aeroplan waiving change fees on reward tickets until June 30, 2022 and the amount of changes you can make are unlimited. For bookings made by June 30 but changed on or after July 1, 2022 you will have the first change fee waived but any others after that will incur a fee. Applicable change fees will apply to any new bookings that are made on or after July 1. The program does seem to be adjusting these frequently so it is entirely possible they will be extended again in the near future.

  • For changes, you’ll pay the difference in points or receive a partial refund if your new itinerary requires fewer points. In addition, a difference in taxes, fees and charges may apply when changing your itinerary.
  • To make a change to a flight reward call the Aeroplan Contact Centre at 1-800-361-5373. All flight rewards must be changed at least 2 hours prior to departure.

Aeroplan's flight reward cancellation policy remains unchanged.

Learn more about Air Canada and Aeroplan's COVID-19 policies here.

Hot on the heels of our updated review of the Alaska Airlines card yesterday the airline comes out with some great news today! They have announced a new partnership with Air Tahiti Nui as the French Polynesian carrier revealed they will be launched Seattle to Tahiti flights this fall! Yes, Seattle is not in Canada but this presents a potentially great opportunity for Mileage Plan members in Western Canada as now you'll be able to reach the South Pacific paradise with just one stop flying on Alaska Airlines out of Alberta or B.C. via Seattle.

The offers are for travel on Fiji Airways and if you redeem miles for a Fiji Airways award flight you’ll be receive up to a 50% discount or if you buy a Fiji Airways flight with cash and credit it to Mileage Plan you can earn double miles on those flights.
