Your free movie with Scene+ isn't free anymore if you buy it online

The foundation of the Scene+ program (nee Cineplex Scene) ever since its inception in 2007 was to be able to earn points that you could redeem for free movies. That fundamental premise of the program abruptly came to an end this week after what appears to be an unannounced change from Cineplex. In the last few days or so Cineplex has started charging an online booking fee for ordering tickets on their website or via their app. This fee is also being charged on tickets that you redeem Scene+ points for!

You can now earn and redeem Aeroplan points for flights on Mexico's Aeromar

As of today Air Canada Aeroplan members are able to earn and redeem Aeroplan points on Mexico's Aeromar. I believe this is to be the 11th new airline Aeroplan has added to their partner roster since June of 2020 (I've kind of lost count now) and 48th airline partner overall. Aeromar is one of Mexico's largest regional airlines serving over 20 cities in Mexico, Texas and Cuba. 

 

Visa Infinite and Visa Infinite Privilege cardholders now receive automatic RSVP Rewards Elite Status

Visa Canada has a new partnership with one of our home grown hotel programs, RSVP Rewards. RSVP Rewards is the relatively new program for Canada's Sandman Hotels and The Sutton Place Hotels. Outside of coverage on Rewards Canada the year old program has gone relatively unnoticed but with this new partnership it has definitely been brought into the spotlight. 

New Amex Offers provide statement credits for Best Western, Voila, lululemon and Roche Bobois

 
A handful of new Amex Offers were revealed today after a week of going without any. Personally I received the Best Western and Roche Bobois offers on my Platinum Card and the lululemon on my Cobalt Card. Thanks to the Amex Offers thread on RFD I also learned about the Voila offers as I did not receive either of them.

One more step was taken by the Federal Government yesterday to returning travel to normal. The feds announced an end to the vaccine requirement for domestic air and rail travel. As of June 20th travellers flying or riding the rails within Canada will no longer have to show proof of vaccination. The rule also holds true for passengers departing from Canada on international flights or rail journeys however there may be separate rules in place for the foreign airlines and/or the country you are travelling to so be sure to know those beforehand. All other requirements still remain in place such as masking on planes and trains and the return to Canada requirements such as vaccination and testing. Click here to learn more about this news

The BMO AIR MILES Mastercards are due for another revamp

In light of the recent news of Sobeys et al. moving from AIR MILES to Scene+ and my updating of the Rewards Canada review of the BMO AIR MILES World Elite Mastercard it became very apparent to me that BMO is going to have to revamp their portfolio of AIR MILES co-brand credit cards. In this post we'll look at why I think these cards need to be updated and how the bank should update them.

New American Express Cobalt Card Confirmed Multipliers for Edmonton, Chicago, Minneapolis and more!

Our American Express Cobalt Card Confirmed Multiplier Locations feature received a nice big update today thanks to a couple of our rewards. The page saw a trio of Edmonton restaurants added thanks to CedricT and over 20 restaurants in Minneapolis, Chicago and Decorah were added thanks to Aaron B.! Aaron also confirmed that Lime Scooters in the U.S. code as 2x points as they do here in Canada.
