Scene+ scores big at the expense of AIR MILES - watch for grocery earning and redeeming to come soon to the program!

In a very unexpected move, news came out today that Empire Company Limited, the parent corporation of Sobeys, Safeway, FreshCo, IGA and numerous other grocery and drug stores has become a co-owner in the Scene+ program. This will mark the end of the grocery empire's involvement with the AIR MILES program. AIR MILES has counted Safeway and Eastern Canadian Sobeys stores as decades long partners and gained western Canadian stores which were aligned with Aeroplan after the Safeway takeover. Empire has now counted three major Canadian loyalty programs as partners! Over the coming months these stores that have currently been part of the AIR MILES program will move over to Scene+ starting no less than in the company's own backyard, Atlantic Canada.

This is not a 'best' credit card list like our Top Travel Rewards Credit Card rankings but instead a look at cards for small businesses that have very good acquisition (welcome/sign up) offers. That 160,000 cap does not include the bonus points so if you max out this offer and buy 160,000 points you’ll receive 320,000 into your account.

This time it is being promoted as the gift card offer as the promotion also sees the redemption rate of those $50 gift cards halved from 16,000 points to 8,000 points. With award night starting as low as 8,000 points you would get more value out of the points for an actual hotel stay over the $50 gift card but there is no harm in redeeming for a gift card especially if Choice isn’t your primary choice of hotel programs. Receive a free night award when you stay two nights at Best Western Hotels this summer

Best Western Rewards' summer promotion kicks off tomorrow and it is the return of their free night award offer. When you complete two nights (do not have to be consecutive) at Best Western Hotels in Canada, the U.S. or Caribbean between June 6 and September 4 you'll receive one free night award. The free night award can be redeemed for Sunday to Thursday night stays between September 5, 2022 and February 16, 2023. They cannot be used for Friday or Saturday night stays.
