Aeroplan Availability Alert: Business Class on SWISS out of Montreal for up to 4 or more people for early 2023 travel

 
Here's our next Aeroplan availability alert! There is a bunch of business class availability showing in the first three months of 2023 for flights between Montreal and Zurich on SWISS. We learned of this offer via Spencer at Straight to the Points! The flights operate on all days of the week except Monday and Wednesday. Most of the days we checked they are showing at least 4 business class seats available per flight in both directions.

It does appear they are back for good as this is the fifth month in a row we have seen Canada on the list. The list is a little smaller this time however there are still Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class to choose from!

Here's our next Aeroplan availability alert! There is a bunch of business class availability showing in April and May 2022 for flights between Montreal and Zurich on SWISS. The flights operate on all days of the week except Monday and Wednesday. Most of the days we checked they are showing at least 4 business class seats available per flight in both directions. There is definitely better availability to Zurich than back but I did find quite a few days on the return with 4 seats.

Swiss only flies out of Montreal but the code is valid on itineraries where flights are operated by SWISS or Air Canada which means you can use it for bookings that include connecting flights on AC or even itineraries that are completely on AC as long as the have Swiss flight numbers. For example here's Calgary to Zurich that is only on Air Canada metal (no actual flights on Swiss):

This month the offers sees many more cities than usual - and an airlines that we haven't seen on the list in ages! Those airlines are Condor and you can get in on their flights out of Calgary and Vancouver and also SWISS' flight out of Vancouver is in there as well. With this month's offer you can redeem Miles & More miles for round trip business class tickets on the routes listed above for only 55,000 miles. This is just over a 50% discount off the normal Business Class award ticket price of 112,000 miles. For premium economy class it is a straight 50% discount from 80,000 miles down to 40,000 miles as is economy at 30,000 miles instead of 60,000 miles.

Normally at this point we go into our discussion on how you can get more Miles & More miles by converting Marriott Bonvoy points to the program. However as we reported previously all hotel points transfers to Miles & More have been suspended. March 8 Update: Hilton introduces a new brand - Signia Hilton, Best Western buys WorldHotels & decent SWISS Business Class offers out of Montreal

Two weeks ago Hilton Hotels announced yet another new hotel brand under their umbrella - Signia Hilton. The new chain of hotels will be targeted towards meetings and events "With a minimum of 500 guest rooms and 75 square feet per key of flexible meetings and events space" at each location. Touted as a global brand, Signia will launch with several locations in the U.S.. No word on if any are planned for Canada but with a minimum 500 guests rooms if they did launch here it would most likely only be in Toronto or Vancouver. Find out more here

Meanwhile Best Western Hotels purchased WorldHotels in February. This is a very interesting purchase as BW is not known for high end or luxurious hotels and now they will be adding over 300 of them to their portfolio!

WorldHotels will maintain its distinctive personality and individuality while benefiting from Best Western's robust and scalable E-Commerce platform, strong partnerships, award-winning loyalty program, effective sales and marketing support, global distribution network, and powerful revenue engines.

The good news with this is the WorldHotels brand will be part of the Best Western Rewards program which is very popular with many Canadians and will present some (potentially) great redemption options, WorldHotels no longer has any affiliated hotels in our country but lots of great locations around the globe. They themselves tried to run their own loyalty program called PeakPoints a few years back and that program essentially failed leaving only their frequent flyer partnerships as a way to earn loyalty rewards for stays at their locations.  Air Italy must be seeing strong bookings on their yet to start Toronto to Milan flights as they have increased service to 6x weekly from 4x. The route officially launches on May 6. (Source Routesonline)

November 30 Update: SWISS First Class was available for booking - we missed it, Plum Rewards added to bonus offers, Stay 2 Get 3 with Hyatt & Amex

If you read a lot of other frequent flyer/miles/points blogs your RSS feed may have exploded with this anomalous offer just like ours did. Overnight SWISS First Class became available to redeem for with Aeroplan Miles, MileagePlus miles and most other Star Alliance programs! Normally SWISS First Class is not available as an award to anyone but Miles & More Senator members but for some reason it opened up. We've seen it happen earlier this year and once back in 2016.

We did our best this morning to find availability but couldn't find anything leading us to believe that this amazing redemption offer was caught by SWISS and corrected by the time we got to work hence no post from us about it. It does tell us one thing - you shouldn't sleep at all. You need to be awake 24hrs a day to catch these offers! Just kidding, what you should be doing is making sure you follow many blogs so that you don't miss out on any potential offers.  By the way, in our search for the SWISS First Class we did come across some Lufthansa First Class availability out of New York City on Aeroplan and this was a few months out - not 14 days like you typically see when trying to book LH First.  Were you able to get in on this? The U.S. blogs are starting to alight with this deal! Normally SWISS First Class is not available as an award to anyone but Miles & More Senator members but for some reason they have opened up. This may not last long and there is lots of phantom availability (shows available but when you click through it doesn't say bookable) We tried one date, Wednesday September 14th and it is available one way between Montreal and Zurich for only 70,000 miles and $54.65 in taxes/fees! Edelweiss returns to Calgary/Vancouver to fly the yearly Zurich route, Swiss to codeshare

It has been a few years since Edelweiss flew into Calgary and Vancouver on the summer seasonal Zurich run. Belair, the Air Berlin subsidiary has plied this route the past couple of summers. Now, with Edelweiss' return, customers will be able to buy the SWISS codeshare on this route and connect to other Swiss flights in or out of Zurich on their itinerary. It also means that as long as your ticket is under the SWISS code (LX) you can earn miles in the Miles and More program. Flights will operate weekly on Mondays from May 31 to Sep 14
