December 17 Update: Aeroplan extends flight reward change policy, Canada reintroducing negative PCR test requirements on all travel & Scene+ issues to be resolved by Dec 19

Aeroplan has once again extended their flexible change policy for Aeroplan flight rewards. As COVID-19 cases increase again and recommendations in place not to travel internationally Aeroplan has adjusted the rules around changing flight rewards. The extension now sees Aeroplan waiving change fees on reward tickets until January 31, 2022 and the amount of changes you can make are unlimited. For bookings made by January 31 but changed on or after February 1, 2022 you will have the first change fee waived but any others after that will incur a fee. Applicable change fees will apply to any new bookings that are made on our after February 1. The program does seem to be adjusting these frequently so it is entirely possible they will be extended again in the near future if the pandemic situation doesn't improve over the next month.

We continue to hear from numerous readers via email and blog comments that Scotia credit card multipliers are not coding correctly in the new Scene+ program. Many grocery and other purchases that should be 5x or 3x points with the Scotia Gold Amex Card are only posting as 1 point per dollar. We've also heard that the total points balance in some members Scene+ accounts are lower than they were in their Scotia Rewards accounts. 

It’s back – you can buy oneworld elite status with Finnair’s latest buy points offer

Finnair has brought back their best ever buy points bonus and since the airline is part of the oneworld alliance this offer may be of use to some oneworld flyers. This buy points bonus has two parts to it – the first is your standard bonus on the points you buy, which in this case is anywhere from 0% to 100% and the second is the awarding of elite qualifying tier points on those purchases as well. They’ve also upped the maximum you can buy this year to 200,000 points from the previous 150,000. This offer is available until December 27, 2021

Here is your monthly update of all the global hotel bonus points promotions that are available. One of the easiest ways to rack up lots of hotel points is to take advantage of these systemwide bonuses that come from many of the big chain programs and also from the lesser known programs. Unless you are staying at a boutique hotel or perhaps an independent hotel most other hotels out there have a bonus. So take advantage of it! Most of these systemwide bonuses simply require you to register beforehand and they do not affect hotel pricing as long as you book a point eligible rate which are most rates out there. Today we soft launched a new look on the main Rewards Canada website that is fully responsive so it’ll will work great on mobile, tablets and desktops. Across all those platforms you’ll be able to enjoy the wealth of information we provide on the website without having to zoom or scroll in weird ways. We say soft launch, as seeing that we have 20+ years of content on our website, much of which has HTML that isn't responsive means it's not a quick switch of templates and it will take a bit of time to make sure every page and every feature is updated to the new look.

An update to the new AIR MILES flights booking platform sees mileage requirements addressed for super low fares

The expanded Air Canada Aeroplan partnership with Uber is here - now earn points on ride sharing and Uber Eats

 

In 2020 Aeroplan partnered with Uber Eats in 2020 so you could earn Aeroplan Points for orders made via Aeroplan's eStore. Then just a few months ago Air Canada launched an offer with Uber Eats whereby co-brand cardholders would receive a free Uber Pass benefit but also at that time announced an expanded partnership with Uber would come later in the year. Well, later in the year has arrived and today we see the launch of the expanded partnership between Aeroplan and Uber.

The much anticipated Muir, an Autograph Collection Hotel Halifax officially opened its doors a few days ago! Situated right on Halifax's waterfront in the Queens Marque neighbourhood, it is the 8th out of 10 hotels that were due to open this year not including existing hotels that moved over to Marriott during the course of the year. The last two hotels, the W Toronto has been delayed even further to 2022 while the Pearle Hotel in Burlington looks to be opening tomorrow.
