November 8 Update: Earn 3x Aeroplan Miles at Home Hardware, 5,000 Bonus Marriott Rewards points in Waterloo and more

For the next week Aeroplan members will earn triple miles for shopping at Home Hardware. This means you'll earn 3 miles for every $2 spent at Home Hardware, Building Centre and Furniture locations, or online at homehardware.ca. Find out more here.

Also on the bonus front is a nice stay bonus in Waterloo, Ontario. You can earn 5,000 bonus Marriott Rewards points per stay at the Courtyard Waterloo St. Jacobs. This offer does price out higher than the member rate but only by a small amount. Look at the following example for a stay this Sunday. The member rate is $147 and the 5,000 bonus points rate is $154. That's $7 more to get the 5,000 points. On average we value Marriott points between 0.8 and 1 cent (C$). This means the 5,000 points are worth around $40 so you would come out $33 ahead with this offer. Find out more here!

Great new offer on the Scotia Momentum VISA Infinite card - 10% back for first three months & first year free

For the third time in a year or so we see a card offer a published 10% return. The first two were from American Express (10% back on the SimplyCash Preferred Card and 10% on the Cobalt for last Christmas) and now we have this one for Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card. Right now for new applications Scotia will award you with 10% cash back on all purchases up to $200 cash back in the first three months. Not only that but they will waive the first year annual fee of $99. That means if you can spend $2,000 on the card in the first three months you'll get the full $200 at no cost.

After the first three months you will have your usual 4%, 2% and 1% returns and with the annual fee waived in the first year it won't cost you anything to give this card a shot. Remember your cash back reward gets paid out in November so you'll want to wait until then to cancel this card if so chose to.  This offer is valid for applications made up until Feb 28, 19

Convert Diners Club Club Rewards Points to British Airways Executive Club Avios and receive a 40% bonus

Last seen this past spring, the Diners Club to British Airways conversion bonus is back but with a higher bonus but the not highest we've seen. Last summer the bonus was 50% and for this spring it is 30%, this time it is right in between at 40%. I may actually take advantage of it with a small transfer even though its not 50%. I'm still holding out for an Alaska transfer bonus from Diners but it has been a long time since they have offered one.

If you are thinking of redeeming soon for travel on British Airways or any of their oneworld partners this may be the time to transfer. This one is for those select few of us who have held onto to our Diners Club Mastercards as the card isn't technically available for new applications. The regular transfer rate is 1,250 Club Rewards Points to 1,000 Avios so with this bonus that equates to 1,400 Avios. That equates to 1.12 Avios per dollar spent on the card. Nothing special and it's not great like the 1.25 you can earn on everyday spend with The Platinum Card from American Express or the category bonuses of 2 Avios per dollar with The American Express Gold Rewards Card and that doesn't even take into account the transfer bonus that Amex has right now. You can even more Avios with The American Express Cobalt card but for Diners it is still better than the regular transfer rate. Don't forget that RBC has a transfer bonus as well right now to British Airways! Heck if you have multiple cards from these issuers you can really boost your Avios balance right now!

Remember you can use British Airways Executive Club to fly to many destinations in the U.S. from Canada for between 15,000 and 25,000 Avios round trip (See here for details on that)

Best Western Rewards Rush returns - only 10,000 points for a free night stay in the U.S. or Canada

One of the best hotel redemption offers to come out after the best of the best (IHG's PointBreaks) has returned! The offer is Best Western's Rewards Rush and the offer allows members to redeem only 10,000 points per night at Best Western hotels in the U.S. or Canada. Many of these hotels can run well over that at 24,000 or even 36,000 points per night!  The big difference this year over last is the limitation to stays from Sunday to Thursday along with a shorter period of two months available for actual stays versus three months last year.

November 6 Update: Marriott Rewards MORE shutting down on November 15, Aeroplan Park'N Fly bonus and more

Marriott Rewards will be shutting down their online shopping portal. Not good news for those of you who wanted to collect some more Marriott Rewards points for the Christmas shopping season! Called Marriott Rewards MORE and only launched over a year ago the portal failed to gain traction and never really added any new stores to compete with the big online shopping portals we see from programs like Aeroplan, AIR MILES, United, Alaska and more. With this offer you can redeem Miles & More miles for round trip business class tickets on Lufthansa from Montreal to 68 destinations for only 55,000 miles and on Austrian from Toronto to 6 cities in Austria also for only 55,000 miles. This is nearly a 50% discount off the normal award ticket price of 105,000 miles. Remember however Miles & More charges some major fees for redeeming miles on these flights so be sure you also check what a revenue ticket costs however remember this is for business class so even several hundreds of dollars in fees along with 55,000 miles could be the savings you are looking for.

You can also choose to redeem 30,000 miles for round-trip Economy Class flights out of Montreal to 74 destinations in Europe. This is a 50% discount off the normal Economy Class award ticket price of 60,000 miles.

Short on Miles & More miles? Your best bet is to convert Marriott Rewards points to Miles & More on a 3:1 basis plus you'll earn 5,000 bonus miles when you convert 60,000 points at a time. That means 75,000 points is all it would take to get one of these tickets if you don't have any Miles & More miles to your name.

If you don't have any Marriott Rewards Points you can get close to amount required to redeem for the tickets by grabbing some credit cards! How so? As we always mention in this post you can boost your Miles & More account with the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express to top off your account. Currently the card comes with a 50,000 point sign up bonus when you spend $1,500 on the card and then you could also grab The Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from American Express as it also has 50,000 point sign up bonus and then you would ultimately be able to have 100,000 points not including what is earned on spending. Of course timing of getting the card(s) now, spending and getting the points will likely not happen for this month but it sets you up for future offers.  Need to grab two tickets for an itinerary? You could choose to get one SPG card for yourself and one for your partner or spouse.

Alaska Airlines has brought back their best bonus for buying Mileage Plan miles! Right now you will get up to a 50% bonus when you buy 40,000 or more miles. A perfect Christmas present for yourself or a loved one! The offer depends on the member as some are getting 40% as a maximum however we received 50%.

Seeing that you can redeem miles for premium class flights on British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Hainan, Korean Air and more, there are lots of options for you to use these miles. Remember it only takes 70,000 Mileage Plan miles to fly Cathay Pacific First Class from North America to Asia and that flight alone will cost a lot more than $1,773.75!

Remember there is no maximum limit on miles you can buy - it strictly limited to 60,000 miles per transaction so you can make multiple purchases if you like.
