Flair Airlines will be switching their Los Angeles area flights from Hollywood Burbank to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX The airline's flights from Vanouver and Edmonton will switch on October 31. The airline will also be adding a new 2 times per week flight between Toronto and Cancun for the upcoming winter season. (Source Flair Airlines)

Rewards Canada has teamed up with the new leader for business class lounge access in Canada, DragonPass, to giveaway some annual memberships with lounge visits to two of our lucky readers! Over the past year DragonPass has made big in-roads in the Canadian market thanks to a global partnership with Plaza Premium and then by becoming the main lounge access membership provider for both Mastercard Canada and Visa Canada!

Enter the Dragon: DragonPass is now the dominant lounge access program in Canada

July is upon us and that means both Mastercard and Visa Canada are now officially utilizing DragonPass as their business class lounge access provider. Earlier this year Rewards Canada was first to break the news of this unexpected switch for both brands. Mastercard began making the switch throughout April and May while Visa officially launched with DragonPass on July 1st. Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with DragonPass' Andrew Harrison-Chinn about the programs for both issuers and what Canadians can expect from them in the near future.

Big news! Visa Canada switching lounge access from Priority Pass to DragonPass (which means access to Plaza Premium lounges!)

 

Two weeks ago Rewards Canada broke the news of Mastercard Canada switching their business class lounge access membership program from LoungeKey to DragonPass and now we have learned Visa Canada will be doing the same! This appears to be the case for various Visa cards in Canada that provide lounge access, which are some Gold and Visa Infinite Cards and all Visa Infinite Privilege Cards. As of July 1, 2022 Visa Canada's new airport lounge program will be called  Visa Airport Companion (powered by DragonPass).

Big News! Mastercard Canada switching lounge access from LoungeKey to DragonPass (which means access to Plaza Premium lounges!)

Big news in the world of credit card lounge access! I was visiting the Mastercard Canada website today and noticed a change to the lounge access section for the World and World Elite Mastercards. No longer does the website state Mastercard Airport Experiences by LoungeKey, instead it now has Mastercard Travel Pass provided by DragonPass.  

Rewards Canada's Guide to Business Class Lounge Access - Updated for 2022

The next long running Rewards Canada feature to get its yearly update and also be moved to the new format on our site is our Guide to Business Class Lounge Access. There weren't a ton of changes to this 8+ year old feature which looks at all the ways Canadians can access business class lounges at airports without having elite status or flying in business or first class.

That didn't take too long at all! Over the past few months we here at Rewards Canada have been providing you with coverage of how Priority Pass and LoungeKey would be losing access to all Plaza Premium lounges in Canada and how that affects some of our credit cards. And then only a few days ago we posed the question as to who would be the first Canadian card issuer to drop Priority Pass/LoungeKey and move to a different program like Dragon Pass. The great news is we have a partial answer to that question and it is not just one issuer but a select few that offer Visa cards.
