If you have an RBC bank account that qualifies for Avion Premium and gets the 100 points to $1 redemption rate and you add in an ION card, what redemption rate for travel do you get? The 100 to $1 or the 172 to $1?
RBC Royal Bank launched two new credit cards this past week, the RBC ION Visa and RBC ION+ Visa cards. These two cards will replace the Rewards+ and Signature Visa cards and feature changes to earn rates, redemption rates and benefits. The naming of these cards falls inline with RBC's move of rebranding their RBC Rewards program to Avion Rewards.

The CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite* Card is the next card to receive the Rewards Canada review treatment. RBC Royal Bank has completed the re-branding of their RBC Rewards program to Avion Rewards. First announced in July and launched this past weekend, the new Avion Rewards site is up and running with all the relevant details for the updated program.

Cathay Pacific has brought back a bonus for converting credit card points to their Asia Miles. The bonus is 10% if you convert to a total of less than 30,000 miles. If you convert for 30,000 or miles you'll receive a 15% bonus. For those of us in Canada you can receive this bonus on transfers from American Express Membership Rewards, HSBC Rewards and RBC Avion Rewards. The best ever bonus seen on the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card is set to end in only one week. Available until September 16, the bonus of up to 55,000 RBC Rewards points is one of the easiest to achieve in the market right now. There is the possibility RBC may extend the offer but typically they would have advised us by now (although that hasn't always been the case) and the likelihood of an even better offer coming to the card is slim to none. Thus if you have been considering this card you may want to apply for it in the next seven days.
RBC has just announced they will rebranding their RBC Rewards program. As of August 25 (or later) the program will be known as Avion Rewards. From a marketing standpoint this makes sense as there has always been some confusion around their Avion products and RBC Rewards. If I recall correctly Avion launched well before they started using RBC Rewards but as the bank evolved with various credit card products and an expanded rewards catalog beyond travel they named the program RBC Rewards. Of which the Avion products were a integrated part yet also were a somewhat separate program.
