Save 15% when you redeem CIBC Aventura points for travel to sun destinations (and Alaska)

 

 With travel slowly making a return and more Canadians looking to get away for this winter after being at home for the better of two years it's nice to see a promotion like this come out.  Earlier in the month CIBC launched a discounted reward offer for their Aventura cardholders that sees the points requirement for travel to sun destinations (outside of lower continental U.S.) reduced by 15%.

Summary of global hotel systemwide bonus points promotions – September Edition

 
Here is your monthly update of all the global hotel bonus points promotions that are available. One of the easiest ways to rack up lots of hotel points is to take advantage of these systemwide bonuses that come from many of the big chain programs and also from the lesser known programs. In fact, right now it should be rare for you NOT to earn a bonus. Unless you are staying at a boutique hotel or perhaps an independent hotel most other hotels out there have a bonus. So take advantage of it! These systemwide bonuses simply require you to register beforehand and they do not affect hotel pricing as long as you book a point eligible rate which are most rates out there. Of course booking through a third party site like Expedia or Rocketmiles does not count as most chains only award points on bookings that are made directly with them.  Here are all the current promotions that are available to everyone this month: 

3 days only! Receive up to a 60% bonus when you buy Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles

The Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan buy miles bonus is back and once again we see it up at the 60% level which does seem to be new normal for the airline.  This time however they are only offering 60% for three days and then it drops to a 50% bonus.

Best Western Rewards – Earn a $20 Best Western gift card for each night you stay (up to 5 nights total)

 
Best Western‘s next major promotion is out and….. it’s exactly the same promotion we saw over the summer. The offer is the $20 Best Western Gift Card for each night you stay for up to 5 nights. Those five nights do not have to be consecutive. You can have 5 one night stays, 2 two night and 1 one night and so on. Members simply need to register to take advantage of it and then you’ll earn the $20 Best Western Gift Card for each night you stay between Sep 12 and November 22 You’ll want to note however that since the Gift Card is a bonus (you’re not buying it outright) they have an expiry date on them and that is March 31, 2022. So take this into account if you are taking part in this promotion in that you’ll want to try to have some Best Western stays that you can use those limited time gift cards on.

New 35,000 RBC Rewards point welcome bonus on the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Business Card

 Back in April RBC revealed new 35,000 bonus point welcome offers on their consumer Avion cards, namely the  RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card as well as the RBC Avion Visa Platinum Card and the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege. Noticeably absent at the time was no increased bonus for the business version of the card. That's changed now as the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Business Card is also now offering a 35,000 RBC Rewards Points welcome bonus. You simply have to be approved for the card and the bonus is yours.

Earn up to 60,000 Bonus Avios^ with the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite Card

 
The next card to lay claim to fame with a best ever welcome bonus is the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite Card. We've seen this card sit steady with its current offer of up to 50,000 Avios offer since October of 2017, but that all changes now. RBC has bumped the offer up by 10,000 Avios so that new applicants can earn up to 60,000 Avios, which is the best ever welcome bonus seen on this card.

Earlier in the week one of our readers asked if the promotion for earning Air Canada Aeroplan points for donating to the Canadian Red Cross counts towards Everday Status Qualification and we confirmed that they do. That prompted one of our Twitter followers @BizClassBum to ask if the same goes for the current bonus Aeroplan points offer for buying Air Canada Gift Cards. Get ready for Scene+ the merged program of Scotia Rewards and Cineplex SCENE

 
Nine months after it was first announced, we are now getting our first glimpse of Scene+, which is the offspring of Scotiabank's Scotia Rewards and Cineplex's SCENE program. As of November 22, 2021 the two programs will merge to become Scene+.  Overall this can be 'scene' as a win for both programs, more so for SCENE members but it does provide some extra earning and redemption opportunities for Scotia Rewards members as well.
