Hilton HHonors - Up to a 75% Bonus when buying HHonors Points until October 5

Not as good as the spring offer of a 100% bonus but this could be worthwhile for some to extend the validity of their HHonors points or you have a redemption in mind that you want to redeem for soon and won't earn points from stays or can't wait for the next 100% bonus. Normally it costs US$10 for every 1,000 points but with the bonus it brings it down to US$5.71 per 1,000 or US 5.7 cents per point when you buy 40,000+ points. Avianca LifeMiles - Up to 145% Bonus Miles when you buy miles - Must register today and buy by September 15

Avianca LifeMiles has been famous for selling their miles with a 100% bonus every few months and then in the spring of this year they upped that to 120%. Now with the latest bonus it has now jumped to 135%!!! But wait it gets even better, for the first few days of this promotion LifeMiles has teamed up with Passageiro De Primeira to add an extra 10% on top of the 135% for a 145% bonus if you buy at the highest tier bonus. To earn that extra 10% you must register today and buy by September 15th.

If you have followed us for sometime you'll know this is a decent option to get Star Alliance flights on the cheap especially in business class. However Avianca announced back on September 30th of 2014 the price to buy miles will go up 10% and had changes to their award chart on October 15th which were a devaluation. So what should you do? If you know that you can make your travel work and get the LifeMiles redemption(s) of your choice go ahead and buy the miles however I wouldn't buy them if you don't think you'll use them over then 3-6 months just in case another award chart devaluation comes along.

If you go ahead with this offer at the highest tier bonus the miles will cost you US 1.35 cents a piece (C 1.78 cents approx)! So buying 150,000 LifeMiles will cost you US$4,950 but you should get a total of 367,500 miles with the bonus. There some concern that the extra 10% may not be legit and even if it isn't the price to buy with a 135% bonus is 1.4 cents  (C1.86 cents) which is still a great deal.

Normally a decent feature of LifeMiles is their Cash + Part Miles option but that was devalued over a year ago. This option only requires that you have 40% of the points for a reward but that offer has you buy the rest of the miles (the other 60%) at about 1.56 cents per mile so you are better off buying the whole amount of miles required for an award through this promo.

Some things to consider with the buy miles option before you pull the trigger is that their call center tends to be on the less helpful side so you are better off booking award tickets online which also means you are limited to the powers of that source, mixed class awards are not allowed unless you book each award ticket as separate one way flights and they have devalued the program without notice in the past so only buy these miles if you think you will use them in the next short while

Best Western Rewards Fall Promotion: $25 Gift Card after 2 stays Worldwide

Best Western has launched their fall systemwide stay promotion and it is quite weak compared to other promos they have run and when compared to what their competitors are offering. To offer only a $25 gift card after two stays is pretty much a slap in the face of Best Western Rewards members as it isn't really "Rewards worth celebrating"

Air China Phoenix Miles: Bonus Kilometers and Discounted Award Tickets for new Montreal-Beiing route

We announced sometime ago that Air China will be launching service between Montreal and Beijing later this month. To celebrate this new route (and others) Air China's is running several promotions for members of the airline's FFP: Phoenix Miles.

If you are flying on the route on a revenue ticket you can earn up to 50% bonus Phoenix Miles Kilometers depending on which fare class you are in.

Nice to see Air China adding these offers to promote the route. Hopefully they do well enough to sustain the route as it is also a  good option for Aeroplan members since they can earn and redeem on Air China flights!

Miles & More Award Ticket Sale - Save up to 50% on award tickets to Europe from Montreal

Once again we bring you the latest set Miles & More "Meilenschnaeppchen" discounted mileage awards!  This month we only see offers for Lufthansa flights out of Montreal for travel between January 1 and February 15, 2016 with booking completed by September 30th.

You can redeem Miles & More miles for round trip tickets from Montreal to Europe for only 55,000 miles in Business Class.  This is nearly a 48% discount off the normal Business Class award ticket price of 105,000 miles. The other option is a full 50% discount on economy class which means an award ticket price of only 30,000 miles. Granted all these tickets will also have fuel surcharges but this is still a pretty good deal when you look at it as a whole in terms of miles+cash outlay. 

The crazy thing is that you can actually get the round trip Economy Class ticket for only $5,000 in credit card spend (and a $120 annual fee). How so? As we usually mention in this post you can boost your Miles & More account with the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express. If you read our blog regularly you'll know that right now the card comes with a 20,000 Starpoint sign up bonus. When you convert those 20,000 Starpoints to Miles & More SPG will award you an additional 5,000 miles. Which gives you 25,000 miles but if you spend $5,000 on the card you'll have 25,000 Starpoints and the 5,000 Miles bonus giving you the 30,000 miles required for this flight. Of course fuel surcharges and taxes are extra.

Starwood Preferred Guest has revealed the details of their end of year global promotion (Source: View from the Wing):

With SPG Stay for More, members can earn double Starpoints® on eligible stays of two or more nights — plus 500 bonus Starpoints when eligible stays include three or more nights. For example, if your stay is two nights you will receive double Starpoints. If your stay is four nights you will receive double Starpoints plus 500 bonus Starpoints for that stay.

Registration is from September 23 through December 6, 2015, and earning is from October 1 through December 20, 2015. There is no limit to the number of bonus Starpoints that Members can earn. Promotional terms and conditions, FAQs, and a list of non-participating Starwood hotels and resorts will be available on September 23, 2015.

Air Transat will offer direct non-stop flights between Vancouver and Rome for the 2016 summer season. The once a week flights will start on June 17 and are always an option for those looking to get to Italy who want to use their proprietary credit card program points as Air Transat does not have a frequent flyer program. We don't provide much coverage of the Orbitz Rewards program here on Rewards Canada but do cover all their bonuses on our global site FrequentFlyerBonuses.com. However when an offer comes up that we Canadians should take advantage of then we'll mention it. That's the case with this offer that awards bonus Orbucks (Orbitz Rewards currency) on select WestJet flights within Canada and from Canada to the U.S.. Beauty is that you can double dip since you'll earn WestJet Rewards dollars on the flight as well once it is completed! One thing to note though is that Orbitz will charge you in US$ which should be roughly equivalent to the C$ price however your credit card will incur the foreign exchange transaction fee unless you use a card like the Marriott Rewards Premier Visa or Amazon.ca Rewards Visa which don't charge those fees!
