Avianca has launched a great buy miles offer for Cyber Week! It is not tiered, it is not exclusive to select blogs. This is one of the best buy miles offers yet from Avianca due to these reasons. You can buy 1,000 miles and get the 145% bonus or you can buy 200,000 miles and get the 145% bonus! The price per 1,000 miles is USD33 which means you are buying miles for US 1.35 cents pre tax.

If you have followed us for sometime you'll know this is a decent option to get Star Alliance flights on the cheap especially in business class. So what should you do? If you know that you can make your travel work and get the LifeMiles redemption(s) of your choice go ahead and buy the miles however I wouldn't buy them if you don't think you'll use them over then 3-6 months just in case another award chart devaluation comes along.

Considering Avianca is a Star Alliance member this is a great way to get a lot of miles to use for Air Canada and this is actually one program you can look at as a stop gap measure if you are looking for an Aeroplan alternative where you can use miles on Air Canada indefinitely before AC launches their own program.

Avianca is offering up to a 125% on buying LifeMiles & how it can save you nearly $5K on an Air Canada Business Class flight

Avianca has brought back yet another great buy miles bonus. It is the standard offer of 100% bonus miles when buying at the lowest levels but they'll through in an additional 15% or 25% when you buy more miles.

Some people are reporting even higher bonuses of 35% and those tend to be those who have purchased miles before.

Not taking into account the potential 35% bonus, if you buy 101,000 miles or more with the 25% bonus you are buying LifeMiles for about US 1.47 cents each. That is a pretty amazing price for you can achieve with them as you can redeem for business class or first class on Star Alliance airlines like Air Canada, Lufthansa and ANA. Here is an example of the savings it can provide

Redeeming via LifeMiles:

If you buy the 101,000 miles from Avianca at the 1.47 cents you will get 227,250 miles which means you can easily use 63,000 of them for the redemption above. Total cost for that one flight? Only about C$1,000 (assuming 1.37 exchange rate from USD). So you are saving $4,989 from what Air Canada is charging! You could actually get yourself three of these flights with the 227,250 miles and have just under 40,000 miles left.

Now do you see why it can bee such a good deal?

A little less miles than what Avianca charges but and it's a big but (a little Sir Mix-A-Lot for you), look at Aeroplan's fees! Nearly 5 times what Avianca charges!

The king of buy miles has bonuses returned however! This time the offer is similar to what we have now seen a few times over the past year or so. Early, early this morning we posted the details of Air Canada's new International flight bonus. At the time we had it up, Air Canada and Aeroplan still hadn't made their registration page live. Well good news is that as of this post going up you can now register for the offer. See the details below in Posts since our last update!

If you have ever taken advantage of the Avianca LifeMiles buy miles bonuses that we frequently post here on Rewards Canada and let you know that they are a great way to get Star Alliance flights for cheap you'll be happy with the latest news from the program! One sticking point with the program up until now is that they did not allow mixed cabin awards. Now they do which means more flights open up for you to use your LifeMiles. You will, of course pay the higher amount of miles of the highest fare class that is on your itinerary but at least you now have the option of using your miles in this fashion without having to book separate awards. Avianca LifeMiles has sweetened the pot on their 100% bonus on buying miles with the added incentive bonuses for buying higher amount of miles! Up until yesterday they would tack on an additional 15% to 25% depending on the level you buy at.
