To celebrate the expanded partnership between Air Canada and Air China as well as the Canada-China Year of Tourism the airlines have launched their first joint frequent flyer promotion. The promotion sees a bonus of up to 30% being awarded to Aeroplan members who fly between Canada and China this spring. Registration is open as is booking for the flights and if you fly during the period of April 1 to June 15 you can earn the bonus miles, 15% for Economy/Premium Economy or 30% for Business/First Class. If you don't know your plans yet, at the very least you should register right now for the promotion just in case your travels do take you to China during that time. From the press release it does state joint promotion so there is a very good possibility there will be the equivalent promotion for Air China Phoenix Miles members however we have not been able to find any details on it yet.

Air China Phoenix Miles: Bonus Kilometers and Discounted Award Tickets for new Montreal-Beiing route

We announced sometime ago that Air China will be launching service between Montreal and Beijing later this month. To celebrate this new route (and others) Air China's is running several promotions for members of the airline's FFP: Phoenix Miles.

If you are flying on the route on a revenue ticket you can earn up to 50% bonus Phoenix Miles Kilometers depending on which fare class you are in.

- Economy class earns a 30% bonus

Nice to see Air China adding these offers to promote the route. Hopefully they do well enough to sustain the route as it is also a  good option for Aeroplan members since they can earn and redeem on Air China flights!

Air China opened up reservations for their newest Canadian route, Montreal-Beijing! The flight will operate 3 times weekly and being a Star Alliance member provides yet another great option for Aeroplan members in Eastern Canada to get to China as Air China is one of the airlines that you can avoid high carrier surcharges on (See our feature on Avoiding Fuel Surcharges) A the time of writing this however we couldn't find these Air China flights on Aeroplan's booking engine so you may have to call in to Aeroplan to see if they can get seats. Chances are online availability should start showing up within a few days. Rocketmiles has a short term first time booking bonus of a minimum 5,000 miles awarded in the Rocketmiles program of your choice. Stays must be booked by May 30th. Find out more here.

Doctor of Credit reports that TD Bank has taken over the Nordstrom credit card portfolio in the U.S.. Could this mean there will be a Nordstrom Rewards Credit Card in Canada soon seeing that Nordstrom now has two Canadian locations and more opening up soon? We'll just have to wait and see! Nordstrom runs two programs in the U.S. currently, Nordstrom Rewards which is their credit card based program and Debut Rewards which is a straight up loyalty program that is only available in Texas right now. So if TD decides to launch a credit card here I'm going to wager a guess it will be for Nordstrum Rewards not Nordstrum Debut Rewards.

In the bonus offers section check out the 100% bonus on buying Hilton HHonors points. Normally it costs US$10 for every 1,000 points but with the bonus it brings it down to US$5 per 1,000 or 5 cents per point. This is an offer where it can be totally worth it to buy the points for hotel stays as you can you pull out value of 8 cents or more on certain redemptions (check out Loyatly Travelers evaluation here!).

Fairmont Hotels: Everyone's an Original Winter Promotion = Double Airline Miles & Discounts

Now that summer is over, we saw the end of Fairmont's Everyone's an Original Summer promotion on September 30th and is being replaced as it is every year, with the Everyone's an Original Winter promotion which officially kicked off today. The promotion has not changed for years, its still Double Airline miles but the rest of the offer usually changes on an almost weekly basis. Sometimes they throw in free nights or Food & Beverage credits depending on the week and the location.

To launch the latest version of this offer, Fairmont is offering up to 20% off or a free night depending on the location you book at. Fairmont President's Club members will enjoy an additional 5% off the Everyone's an Original summer rate. The 20% off/Free Night is good for bookings and stays completed by April 30, 2014. Air China is bonusing up many of their long haul and some of their regional routes. This promotion can be of interest to Canadian Phoenix Miles members as it includes flights between Vancouver and Beijing. What's even bigger news is the potential for super cheap award tickets on the same route! See my post from earlier today for more details!

IHG has extended their current Stay More Earn More bonuses to May 31st. These are the loosely targeted offers also known as the Stay X Get Y bonus. I'm guessing they are being extended as the IHG Rewards Club team (nee Priority Club) are busy preparing for the change over to the new name and program. Air China: Only 15,000 Phoenix Miles for Business Class Award Ticket from Vancouver to Beijing?

UPDATE: This does turn out to be a translation error as I guessed below, the discount is only 15% (which is nothing to laugh at it!). Thanks to Jeff K and his mom who gave me the correct translation

I found this offer over the weekend as part of Air China's new bonus for flying on many of their long haul routes and several regional ones too. It only takes up the last half of the promotional paragraph but if this is true, this is a huge redemption discount for flights! According to the wording on the page, Phoenix Miles members can enjoy an 85% discount on award tickets between Beijing and Frankfurt, New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Singapore until June 30, 13! You do have to register for the offer to partake in it.

That means for flights between Vancouver and Beijing you only have to redeem 21,750 Phoenix Miles Kilometers for First Class, 15,000 Phoenix Miles Kilometers for Business Class or 9,000 Kilometers for Economy Class! This seems too good to be true, perhaps their translation of the Chinese page for the offer meant you can get the ticket for 85% of the original cost or in other words a 15% discount. I am going to do some more digging on this one but it may be worth taking a look at! If this does turn out to be the amazing deal it sounds like then the best bet to get Phoenix Miles Kilometers is to transfer Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints at a 1:1 ratio (and of course 5,000 bonus Kilometers for every block of 20,000 converted).

Fairmont Hotels: Everyone's an Original Summer Promotion = Double Airline Miles & Discounts

Now that winter is pretty much over (well not here in YYC!), we will see the end of Fairmont's Everyone's an Original Winter promotion on April 30th which will be replacedd as it is every year, with the Everyone's an Original Summer promotion. Air China to increase Vancouver-Beijing flights

Now that Canada has approved destination status with China, Air China will be increasing flights between Vancouver and Beijing to 10 per week from the current 7. Four more per flights are being planned as well for late 2010 or 2011 bringing the service to twice daily.
