As mentioned yesterday MBNA officially launched another limited time increased sign up bonus, this time it is for the  MBNA Choice Privileges MasterCard . The sign up bonus is normally 8,000 points (good for one free night at select locations) but that bonus has now been increased to 24,000 points. See my post from earlier today for complete details

InterContinental Hotels Group Priority Club has advised me that they will NOT be running a fourth quarter systemwide promotion. This is quite a change for them as they have been consistent at running quartely type bonuses for many years. On top of that a lot of their competitors have already announced their fall or fourth quarter promos so this came as a bit of a surprise. Hopefully they will continue with their loosely targetted Stay X Get Y bonus offers in the fall when the current batch expire at the end of September.

Aug 29 Update: Priority Club MasterCard adds Platinum Status, bigger sign up bonuses for MBNA Best Western & Choice Hotels Cards, 25K Points for Country Inn Stays

Today's news is pretty much reserved for Hotel Credit Card market in Canada!

Things are slowly getting back to normal here as I am still playing catch up! In case you missed my post from earlier today I revealed the new American Express Membership Rewards Airline Transfer partner. That new partner happens to be Etihad Airways. Check out the post here.

In terms of new bonuses, I have finally added the Aeroplan Transfer bonus that has been around for a little while also adding the new Aeroplan 50% Bonus Status Miles offer for flights between YTZ & YUL. New Amex Membership Rewards Transfer Partner: Etihad Airways

I have been hinting at a new transfer partner for the Canadian American Express Membership rewards program since June but have not been able to release those details until now. The information is officially up on Amex Canada's site and the new partner is Etihad Airways and their Guest program.

The transfer ratio of 1,000 MR points to 750  Etihad Guest Miles is the same ratio as Alitalia, Cathay Pacific and Delta.

How is this beneficial to Canadian's especially since some of you may not have even heard of Etihad? Well they do fly between Toronto and Abu Dhabi three times per week with ongoing connections across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Overall I don't believe most Canadian Membership Rewards members will use this partner but it is nice to have that option if you think you can make use of the Etihad Guest program for the flights they provide. Of course if you are already a member of Etihad Guest and fly regularly with them then it could be a smart idea to add the American Express Gold Rewards Card or The Platinum Card from American Express to your wallet so that you can earn even more Guest miles.

SPG Fall Promo: "Better by the Night"

I am still on vacation but here is another that shouldn't wait until next week although technically speaking the offer is not open for registration yet.

Starwood has released the details of their fall systemwide promo (kind of a misnomer as there are quite a few properties not participating) called Better by the Night:

This time the team from SPG have decided to make this promo less complicated than the summer "Nice Choice" promo. It's pretty easy, earn Double Starpoints on all eligible stays of 1 or 2 nights, Triple Starpoints on all eligible stays of 3 or more nights. Taking a page from the current Priority Club systemwide promo SPG will also award bonus Starpoints for certain online bookings. Members will earn 250 Bonus Starpoints for eligible stays booked on SPG.com and 500 Bonus Starpoints for stays booked via the SPG iPhone App.

Quick update while I am on holidays!

I'm in the middle of taking some time off but can't really keep away from posting some offers, I won't go into huge details but here are some things that have cropped up in the past week that are worth mentioning:

Icelandair Saga Club is offering a 20% bonus on buying Saga Club miles which I found in my email and didn't think much of it and thought would add it to the site when I get back to work.  Then I read Onlinetravelreview and found out what this actually means, it means that those of who live in Alberta and BC can spend roughly $328 to obtain 30,000 Saga Club miles which will get you a FIRST CLASS roundtrip ticket on Alaska Airlines to anywhere they fly in the U.S. (Alaska and Hawaii included), Canada and Mexico. Carlson Hotels Club Carlon is celebrating 25 years of Country Inns & Suites by offering 25,000 Bonus Goldpoints for a 2 night stay at a Country Inns & suites on the special 25 for 25 rate. Registration is required to earn the points and you can register here

Club Carlson also has a sweepstakes on right now that will award you 100 Gold Points per day for viewing a Vacation Look Book (takes about 1 minute!)

Aeroplan is offering another transfer bonus for transferring miles/points from their partners. This time around the bonus isn't as big and there aren't as many partners (12 only). You can earn up to 10,000 bonus Aeroplan miles (20% bonus). You can find the offer here.

Finally, you may recall over the past few weeks some of my posts on the new Canadian Marriott Rewards Premier Visa card and it's 30,000 point sign up bonus. Well thanks to Rob, who follows Rewards Canada, I have been made aware of a 50,000 point sign up bonus for the card! It looks like he got an email the same time I did (mine was only for 30K) and here is the screenshot of it:

So if you are planning to apply for this card I would recommend you call Chase at 1-888-530-2938 for it instead of doing it online and request the 50,000 point bonus mentioning the email.
