RBC Visa Infinite Avion - Up to 25,000 Bonus RBC Rewards Points and First Year Annual Fee waived (Only until Dec 6)

Looks like RBC released an extra special welcome offer on the RBC Visa Infinite Avion card for Black Friday / Cyber Monday.  Right now through to December 6 they have added an extra 5,000 points to the latest limited time offer on the card. That means you can earn 25,000 RBC Rewards points with this offer! When approved you'll get 15,000 points then when you spend $1,000 on the card in the first three months you'll be awarded with 10,000 more points for 25,000 total - and the first year annual fee is waived. This means you are basically getting the 25,000 points for free. This is a great deal assuming the $1,000 in spending you put on the card is spending you would do otherwise. This is an easily achievable spend requirement only only $333.33 per month so it is definitely an offer you'll want to check out.

Those 25,000 points will equate to 25,000 British Airways Avios at no cost or more when they run their transfer bonuses like the current 50% bonus.  It is also equivalent to 250 WestJet dollars at no cost and that doesn't even take into account the transfer bonuses they run occasionally throughout the year for WestJet. And remember BA has household accounts so you and your spouse could each get the card then convert to BA and combine the Avios into one account for no less than 50,000 Avios. Remember that you can get really cheap Avios redemptions to Dublin from Toronto and Montreal on Aer Lingus. There are just so many options here....

Here are some articles we have written to help you decide if this offer is for you!

And thanks again to Anik for alerting us to this offer!

New welcome offer for the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card - Earn up to 30,000 Bonus Aeroplan Miles with first year free

The latest set of TD credit card offers are out now and while most of the cards have lower total welcome bonus offers - they are easier to achieve than the last set of offers.  Our coverage this week starts with one of the most popular co-brand cards in Canada, the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite card. We'll follow suit with separate posts for the other Aeroplan card offers and their proprietary TD Rewards card offers.

FYI - These are the other offers:
  • TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege -  Limited time offer - online only! Earn up to 40,000 Aeroplan Miles (equivalent to 2 premium economy class short-haul roundtrip flight rewards)1. Conditions Apply. Must apply online by March 2, 2020.
  • TD Aeroplan Platinum Visa - Limited time offer - online only! Earn up to 25,000 Aeroplan Miles (equivalent to 1 long-haul roundtrip flight reward)1. and first year no Annual Fee1. for the Primary Cardholder. Conditions Apply. Must apply online by March 2, 2020.
  • TD First Cass Visa Infinite Card - Limited time offer - online only:
Earn up to 80,000 TD Points1 (a travel value of $4001). Plus, first year no Annual Fee1 for the Primary Cardholder. Conditions Apply. Must apply online by March 2, 2020.
  • TD Platinum Travel Visa - Limited Time Offer - online only:
Earn up to 30,000 TD Rewards Points1 (a travel value of $150). Plus, first year no Annual Fee1 for the Primary Cardholder. Conditions Apply. Must apply online by March 2, 2020.
  • TD Rewards Visa - Apply online by March 2, 2020 to earn up to 10,000 TD Rewards Points (equivalent to a $25 gift card)
The new offer out on the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Cards matches the mileage bonus we saw back in February. That offer was for 30,000 miles with only $1,000 in spending and was first year free. This time around is 30,000 with $3,000 in spending and is first year free. So it takes a bit more than the offer we saw early in the year. It of course doesn't match the 40,000 offer that just ended and this one replaced. However this current 30,000 mile offer is actually better in some one ways than the 40,000 mile offer. How so? The 40K offer required a lot of spend and required you to get a supplementary card. Well what if you don't need or want a supplementary card? Well that brought the 40K mile offer down to 35K miles as the supplementary card scored 5,000 miles for a $50 annual fee. And to get those 35,000 miles on the old offer required a minimum of $6,667.66 in spending whereas the 30,000 on this current offer only requires $3,000 and no additional cards.

Now what you'll want to know is how do you earn the full 30,000 Aeroplan Mile welcome bonus. When you receive the card you will be awarded with 15,000 Aeroplan miles on the first purchase made. Then you will receive 5 additional Aeroplan miles per dollar on eligible purchases up to $1,000 in each of the first three months you have the card. That is, if you spend $1,000 on the card in month one you'll earn 5,000 Aeroplan miles. Any spend above $1,000 will only earn the 1 to 1.5 Aeroplan Miles per dollar spent. This resets for month two and once again you'll earn 5 additional Aeroplan Miles per dollar up to $1,000 and again for month three. All told, spend $1,000 in each of those three months ($3,000 in total) and you have the additional 15,000 Aeroplan Miles.  This is all with the first year annual fee of $120 waived on the primary card. Of course if you have a TD All Inclusive Banking plan you don't ever pay fees on the primary or first additional card.

Just remember, the $1,000 is key - as the offer states you will earn 5 Aeroplan Miles per dollar up to that $1,000 mark each month - anything above that and you'll earn the regular 1 to 1.5 Aeroplan Miles.  So don't go out and blow $3,000 in the first month thinking you'll get 15,000 miles right away. Play it cool and make sure you can hit the $1,000 each month for those first three months.

I would also recommend that if you play the credit card sign up bonus game or are a credit card churner - you may want to take a break from other cards when you get this card.  The reason why is so you can focus your spend to reach that $1,000 spend per month without stretching your finances to meet the minimum spend requirements on other cards at the same time. We've heard too many stories of people scrambling because they signed up for and received too many cards in a short period of time and struggled to hit the minimums to earn the welcome bonuses.

That aside - once you do have this card and have earned the 30,000 Aeroplan miles at no expense you have a lot of travel reward value at your disposal. Looking at the Aeroplan Classic Flight reward chart there are lots of round trip options that run from 15,000 to 30,000 miles and even more one way options since they are exactly half of the rates listed on the chart:

Here are some of the possible redemption options for the 35,000 mile level:
  • 2 Round Trip Economy Class Short Haul tickets
  • 1 Round Trip Business Class Short Haul ticket
  • 1 Round Trip Economy Class Long Haul ticket in Canada and the U.S. (with 5,000 miles left over)
  • 1 One Way Economy Class Ticket to South America or Europe

The value you get out of the sign up bonus will really vary based on what you redeem your miles on. In many of our past posts we see Aeroplan miles being worth as little as 1.2 cents for economy class flights to well over 6 cents per mile for business class flights. That means the 30,000 mile welcome bonus is worth anywhere from $360 to $1,800+ which makes it one of the most worthwhile sign up offers in the market seeing that it basically comes to you at no cost since the first year annual fee is waived.

If you are wondering if this offer is right for you, you do have some time to consider it as it is open for new applications until March 2, 2020.

Below is the most current offering for this card:

50% Off Business Class Award Tickets between Edmonton & Europe, 25% off for Calgary and Toronto

The newest set of Air France KLM’s Promo Rewards will be released around 6pm ET tonight (November 30) and this month we see a trio of Canadian cities included. With promo rewards the discount ranges from 20 to 50% off the regular amount of miles required to redeem for these flights. As you can see just by the discount this can be a very good offer if you get 50% off for Business Class and that's the case for flights on KLM out of Edmonton! For Calgary and Toronto the discount is 25% off business class.

Offer details
December Promo Rewards – Save 20% to 50% on the Award Miles usually required for an award ticket. Destinations vary by each promotional period. Full Details  Book by Dec 31 for travel Feb 1 – Mar 31, 20

This month's Canadian cities:
Calgary - 25% off business class on KLM
Edmonton - 50% off business class on KLM
Toronto - 25% off business class on Air France or KLM

Here are the mileage requirements for flying from Canada to Amsterdam or Paris (the mileage amount will vary for other cities in Europe).

As we mentioned above you can't book these just yet which also means we can't provide you with snap shots of availability like we usually do (we'll have a follow up post for that) You'll have to wait until about 6pm tonight to see availability on the routes and to book them. The mileage amounts required will vary by the location you want to fly to, for example you can usually fly to Brussels, Milan, Athens and other cities for less miles than what is listed above for Amsterdam or Paris.

If you don't have enough miles for a Promo Reward your best bet is to convert Marriott Bonvoy points to Flying Blue on a 3:1 basis. Remember you'll earn 5,000 bonus miles when you convert 60,000 points at a time (a total of 25,000 miles per 60,000 points) That means 120,000 points will get you to 50,000 miles which is more than enough to cover a round trip flight between Vancouver and Rome, Lisbon or Warsaw in premium economy class!

If you don't have any Marriott Rewards Points you can always look at getting the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card to top off your account. Currently the card comes with a 50,000 point sign up bonus when you spend $1,500 on the card and then you could also grab the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card as it also has 50,000 point sign up bonus. You would then ultimately be able to have 100,000 points which can be converted 3 to 1 to Flying Blue Miles plus Marriott will kick in an additional 5,000 miles for every 60,000 points transferred.  Of course timing of getting the card(s) now, spending and getting the points will likely not happen for this month but it sets you up for future offers.  Need to grab two tickets for an itinerary? You could choose to get one Marriott card for yourself and one for your partner or spouse and you'll have a lot more points!

November 29 Update: More Black Friday Cyber Monday deals, Tangerine page on main site & last day to enter our contest!

It's Black Friday and there so many offers out in the market now, in fact too many to keep up with! We just updated the Rakuten offer, Kaligo, TAP, and Singapore Airlines (for flights out of the U.S, $499 round trip from LA to Tokyo!) Visit the page here.

Now that Tangerine offers multiple credit cards we have created a dedicated page on our website for Tangerine credit cards and bank accounts You'll find the link to the page in our drop down menu on the navigation bar on the main Rewards Canada site. Visit the page here.

Today is the last day to enter our contest celebrating Aeroplan's Black Friday Cyber Monday deals. Be sure to enter so you can have a chance to win 10,000 Aeroplan miles! Enter the contest here.

TIP OF THE DAY:
You may notice that we tweet and/or have Facebook posts that mention "Last Few days" of so and so offer. This is to give you a heads up of offers that are ending like hotel stay bonuses (or at least when registration closes for them) and also for limited time credit card welcome offers that are ending. Due to contractual obligations in many cases we cannot let you know what the new offers are that are coming out but if you don't hear anything from us on social media or the blog then there is a good chance the next offer on the card you are interested in will be the same or better. If however we do mention "last few days" or something to that matter there is a really good chance the new offer will not be as good or at least as high as the offer that is coming to a close. Now with so many offers I will probably miss mentioning some but will do my best to let you know about the more popular ones. I hope this helps you in your decision making process when it comes to jumping on an offer!
