Air Canada Earn Your Wings The Amazing Race Canada Edition is now on!

It took a bit of time but Air Canada officially launched the "Earn Your Wings - The Amazing Race Canada Edition" promotion late yesterday. We already brought you the details last week on the promotion but here it is once again as now we know the value and requirements of the majority of the badges. For flights to count they must be booked between yesterday and November 17th completed by December 15th. For complete details and to register for the promotion click here.

Some of the badges are easy to earn, hopefully you pre-registered as mentioned in our earlier post for "The Early Bird Badge" for 500 RaceWings, if not don't worry you will get the "Participant Badge" worth 250 RaceWings when you register. You can also earn a couple of badges and more RaceWings by sharing the promotion via social media, see the bottom of the badge legend below for the details.

The only other non-flying badge is the "Savvy Traveler" badge for Fairmont stays/Avis Car Rentals. Other than that it is all about the flying!

Earn RaceWings

Earn RaceWings and fly to the top of the leaderboard (RaceWings will help you keep score). To start you off, we’ll give you 250 RaceWings just for registering. Earn 200 RaceWings with each take-off and landing on Air Canada, Air Canada Express and Air Canada rouge. To earn more RaceWings, you’ll need to touch down and take-off from select airports around the world called Pit Stops.

Collect Badges

You’ll receive badges when you complete certain challenges, tasks and specific activities. Start earning badges and you’ll really see your RaceWings total climb! (See badge legend for details)

Rack-up Bonus Aeroplan Miles

Every time you earn 2,000 RaceWings, we’ll give you 1,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles. Plus, earn an extra 5,000 bonus miles for every 10,000 RaceWings. Keep on flying and when you hit 100,000 RaceWings, we’ll reward you with an additional 100,000 bonus Aeroplan miles. That’s 200,000 bonus Aeroplan miles for every 100,000 RaceWings! Fast Forward 1

Get ahead of the game. Take off or land at a Pit Stop city in a Latitude or Premium Economy fare to earn 500 bonus RaceWings and this badge. This challenge is on-going and the badge can be earned more than once.

Fast Forward 2

Get further ahead of the game! Take off or land at a Pit Stop city in an Executive Class or Executive First fare to earn 1,000 bonus RaceWings, as well as this badge.

The Final Leg Badge

To collect this badge, you’ll have to be a high roller. Every time you hit 100,000 RaceWings we’ll give you 100,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles. That’s 200,000 bonus Aeroplan miles for every 100,000 RaceWings!

Detour

The Detour badge details and its bonus RaceWings value will be revealed during the promotion period. Keep your eyes open and check your emails!

Speedbump

The Speedbump badge details and its bonus RaceWings value will be revealed during the promotion period. Keep your eyes open and check your emails!

U-Turn

Task Badges - 5000 RaceWings

You’ll need to do some planning to earn these badges! A task badge is awarded once you have completed a combination of specific airports. There is no limit to how many times you can earn these badges.

The Time Flies Badge

Collect this badge when you take off all three of these, which are known for their timepieces: London (LHR), Geneva (GVA) and Zurich (ZRH).

The Bridge Badge

New York City (LGA), San Francisco (SFO), Pittsburgh (PIT) are all known for their bridges. Take off or land at all three of these airports to collect this badge.

Race Leg Badge

To collect this badge, follow in the footsteps of The Amazing Race Canada contestants. Take off or land in Halifax (YHZ), Regina (YQR), Toronto Island (YTZ) and St. John’s (YYT).

The Left is Right Badge

You’ll have to drive on the left when you visit London (LHR), Tokyo (NRT) and Hong Kong (HKG). Collect this badge when you take off or land in all three of these destinations.

The East Coast Badge

Collect this badge when you take off or land in all four destinations on the East Coast of the United States that have been featured in the American version of The Amazing Race: New York City (LGA and EWR), Boston (BOS), Philadelphia (PHL).

The Out West Badge

Collect this badge when you take off or land in all six of these western U.S. cities, all featured in the American version of The Amazing Race: Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Dallas (DFW), Seattle (SEA), Phoenix (PHX), Denver (DEN).

The Hometown Badge

Collect this badge when you take off or land in the following destinations The Amazing Race Canada contestants call home: Ottawa (YOW), Toronto (YTZ), Winnipeg (YWG) and Edmonton (YEG).

The Tower Badge

You might be surprised to learn that Copenhagen (CPH), Istanbul (IST) and Seoul (ICN) all have famous towers. Discover them for yourself when you take off and land in all three destination and collect this badge.

The Motor City Badge

Collect this badge when you take off or land in these three cities, which built a reputation for their car manufacturing industries: Detroit (DTW), Frankfurt (FRA) and Tokyo (NRT).

The Great Lakes Badge

Toronto (YTZ), Thunder Bay (YQT), Cleveland (CLE), Milwaukee (MKE) all border one of the Great Lakes. Collect this badge when you take off or land in all four.

The Lion Dance Badge

In this traditional Chinese dance, performers mimic a lion’s movement dressed up as the king of the jungle. Touch down in these four destinations where the dance is practiced to collect the badge: Tokyo (NRT), Beijing (PEK), Shanghai (PVG) and Hong Kong (HKG).

The Salsa Badge

Did you know Dallas (DFW) is known for its fine Mexican food? Take off and/or landing in both Dallas and Mexico City (MEX) to collect this badge, which celebrates the delicious cuisine.

The Aerospace Badge

Collect this badge when you take off or land in these three cities with major aircraft manufacturing industries: Seattle (SEA), Paris (CDG) and London (LHR).

The B.C. Badge

Touch down in beautiful British Columbia to collect this badge. You must take off and/or land in all of the following destinations: Fort St. John (YXJ), Kamloops (YKA), Prince George (YXS), Terrace (YXT), Victoria (YYJ) and Nanaimo (YCD).

The Sunscreen Badge

You’d better carry UV protection when visiting Mexico City (MEX), Grand Cayman (GCM) and Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe (PTP). Take off and/or land in all three to collect this badge.

The Provincial Hall of Fame Badge

To collect this badge, take off or land in all six of these cities, all home to provincial sports hall of fame museums: Toronto (YTZ), Winnipeg (YWG), Saskatoon (YXE), Regina (YQR), Red Deer (YQF) and Prince George (YXS).

The First Nations’ Badge

Collect this badge when you take off and land in all of the following destinations with First Nation monikers: Ottawa (YOW), Winnipeg (YWG), Saskatoon (YXE) and Kamloops (YKA).

The Turboprop Badge

Air Canada operates turboprop planes in Saskatoon (YXE), Regina (YQG), Edmonton (YEG), Fort St. John (YXJ), Victoria (YYJ) and Nanaimo (YCD). Take off or land in all six of these destinations to collect this badge.

The Europa Badge

Awarded every time you take off or land at specific airports. Each airport has its own badge and is equal to a certain number of RaceWings. There is no limit to how many times you can earn these badges.

Only a few days ago we mentioned some changes to Cathay Pacific's Asia Miles program and now there are even more coming. Thelatest is a negative change that affects Asia Miles Priority Awards. These awards are those that give you a better chance of getting an Economy Class seat on Cathay Pacific and Dragonair flights during peak-travel periods (think Aeroplan Market Fare nee ClassicPlus flight awards. These changes go live on Ocotober 16th:

Starwood Preferred Guest has added a new airline transfer partner, Virgin Australia. Starpoints can be transferred at 1 to 1 basis (and of course if you transfer 20,000 Starpoints SPG will kick in the extra 5,000 miles) Source: Loyalty Lobby

Miles & More, the frequent flyer program for the Lufthansa group which includes Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines, Swiss, Austrian and more has announced lower mileage earning for discount economy class tickets on all flights worldwide. Source Miles & More

Qatar Airways and American Airlines have joined forces on the FFP side, another step in Qatar Airways joining the oneworld alliance. A few weeks ago we mentioned that Qatar and British Airways started their reciprocal FFP partnership and now we AA as well. Here are the earning details from Qatar's site and here they are for American.

In the bonus offers section we list an offer from ANA All Nippon Mileage Club for discounted award flights. This is one of those better offers for Canadian Mileage Club members since ANA doesn't actually fly to Canada but the promotion is for reward tickets on Air New Zealand and ANZ does serve Vancouver. If you don't collect Mileage Club miles you can take advantage of this offer by converting Starwood Preferred Guest Points into Mileage Club.

Sep 20 Upate: Canada's Choice voting now open, Asia Miles program change, 10K Bonus Points at Residence Inn YYZ

Big day here on Rewards Canada with the launch of the 3rd annual Canada's Choice portion of our Top Travel Rewards Credit Card feature. It looks like it is gaining steam every year! Two years ago we only had 700 some odd votes, last year we had 180 in the first 5 hours and over 3,000 total and if the first 5 hours this year are any indication it will be even bigger as we more than doubled the responses in that short 5 hour time frame with nearly 400 votes at the time of posting this. Cathay Pacific Asia Miles is making two changes to their program as of October 8th. One is positive and the other is negative. First the positive news is that as of that date if you fly on discount economy tickets booked into S, N or Q classes you will earn 25% of the mileage in Asia Miles whereas right now those fares earn 0. The bad news is that Asia Miles will charge $25 or 1,000 Miles each time a confirmed award flight date or flight number is changed (per flight sector per passenger, with the same itinerary, same airline, and same ticket expiry date. Details on these changes can be found here

Priority Pass, the third party airport lounge program has added another lounge in Toronto to their roster, the Plaza Premium Lounge (International Departures): Terminal 3.

Canada's Choice - Vote for Canada's Top Travel Rewards Credit Cards

It's that time again!

Back in June we released our annual rankings of Canada's Top Travel Rewards Credit Cards, and for the third year in a row we are now asking you Canada to vote for your favourite Travel Rewards Credit and Charge cards!

Sep 18 Update: Fly Jamaica announces Toronto service, Air Canada Earn Your Wings is back, Best Western extends 1,000 points bonus

Another relatively quiet day on the newsfront but no so for the bonus offers world!

Air Canada is bringing back their Earn Your Wings promotion which just ended in June. This time it is called the "Amazing Race Canada Edition" and will follow the same premise as the spring version of collecting wings and badges and of course the more you collect the more Aeroplan bonus miles you'll receive. See our post from earlier today for the details and for the pre-registration link which gets you additional wings.

Fly Jamaica, a new airline from Jamaica has announced that they plan on serving Toronto from Kingston Jamaica and Georgetown Guyana from early October. They don't have a frequent flyer program yet but you can utilized one of the many travel points or hybrid cards like the RBC Avion, BMO World Elite, Amex Gold Rewards etc. to redeem points for a flight with them. Air Canada Earn Your Wings The Amazing Race Canada Edition - earn up to 200,000 bonus Aeroplan Miles

Air Canada's Earn Your Wings promotion is back again this time being called The Amazing Race Canada Edition. Last seen in spring when the original Earn Your Wings promo was launched and once again the promotion has the same concept in that registered members complete certain activities (primarily flights) to earn RaceWings (last time they were just called 'Wings') and collect badges which also count to your RaceWings total. Depending on how many RaceWings and Badges you collect you could earn up to 200,000 Bonus Aeroplan Miles with this fall's Earn Your Wings promotion.

The promotion runs from Sep 24 to Dec 15 (however all Air Canada flights must be booked between Sep 24 and Nov 17, so flights booked before won't count as we have seen with all of AC's bonus promos of late) but you can pre-register now to receive 500 RaceWings.

The details for the majority of the badges have not been revealed, we assume those will be made public on Sep 24 at which time we will do a follow up post. In the mean time be sure to pre-register to ensure you get 500 RaceWings instead of the 250 that is awarded after the promotion starts.
