WestJet and RBC have extended the combined offer of 450 WestJet dollars + $0 companion fare on the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard. The 450 bonus WestJet dollars are awarded when you spend $5,000 in the first three months and is available on new applications made until January 5, 2022. The $0 companion fare voucher is currently available for applications made until March 7, 2022, it is this latter voucher offer where the extension takes place and confirms our anticipation of them extending it if TD and Aeroplan extended their Buddy Pass offers which they did.
Breakdown of the Welcome Bonus

- $0 companion fare voucher awarded 4-6 weeks after first purchase
- Complimentary

Mastercard
$0 Companion Voucher
New cardholders who apply and are approved for the card will receive a companion voucher where you will only have to pay the taxes, fees and charges on economy class bookings for WestJet flights in Canada, to the U.S., Hawaii or Mexico. That means the majority of WestJet's network is covered by this voucher. The only destinations not included are their Transatlantic routes to Europe and Latin American sun destinations. Cardholders can also choose to use the voucher for premium seats or Transatlantic bookings and pay the standard $399 fee. The voucher must be used for a WestJet booking within one year of card open date which is the same rule that we have become accustomed for the regular vouchers that comes on this card.
If you choose to use it to on
flights to Hawaii or Mexico this $0 companion fare voucher
provides the cardholder with an additional savings of $399 as that is
the typical fee when using vouchers to those destinations. Add this to
the 450 WestJet dollars you can earn for spending $5,000 on the card in
the first three months and you have no less than $730 in value ($849 -
$119 annual fee). I say 'no less' as that's not taking into the savings
already provided by the voucher on the actual ticket price. For example
if you book a flight to the Hawaii which is $500 per person before
taxes and fees that second voucher is saving you the full $500. On top
of that you can always look at getting a second card in your household,
especially if you travel as a group of four or more as you'll can take
advantage of using two vouchers. (see Why my wife and I each grabbed our own WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercards)

Wrapping it up
Ideally
you'll want to apply for the card between now and January 5 if you
want to lock in the higher welcome bonus of 450 WestJet dollars combined with the $0 companion fare voucher. After that date we don't
know if the welcome bonus will be that high or if it will happen to drop to past offers like 350 or even 250. You also might want to think about the getting
the card sooner than later if the new Status Lift benefit appeals to you
since you only need to spend a third of the amount on the card by the end of December to get the tier qualifying spend. That means that
first $5,000 spend mark to earn the 450 WestJet dollars will also earn
you $500 in tier qualifying spend.
