This post is for our readers from the U.S. and of course for our Canadian readers who play the U.S. credit card game!
In December 2020 Air Canada Aeroplan and Chase announced they would be launching a new partnership in 2021 that would see Chase issue an Aeroplan co-brand credit card for the U.S. market and see Aeroplan become a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards. It is the latter that officially kicks off today as Aeroplan is now part of Chase Ultimate Rewards. While the co-brand card hasn't been released just yet they have opened up a special wait list offer for it that you can register for starting today.
Aeroplan & Ultimate Rewards
Eligible Chase cardmembers can now transfer Ultimate Rewards points to their Aeroplan account in increments of 1,000 at full 1:1 value – meaning one Ultimate Rewards point is equal to one Aeroplan point.
Chase Aeroplan Card
We can expect the new Air Canada Aeroplan co-brand card from Chase to come out later this year and if the card is on your radar you can score an extra 10,000 Aeroplan points on top of whatever the card offer will be by joining the Air Canada Chase wait list! This is the exact same promotion Air Canada and American Express here in Canada - they offered extra points for those people who joined the waitlist and then applied for one of the American Express Aeroplan cards once they went live in the market You can sign up for the Chase Air Canada Waitlist here
With the addition of Air Canada's Aeroplan to the Ultimate Rewards airline partner line up these U.S. based cards just became that much better. Aeroplan is a great program for flying on Star Alliance and any of Air Canada's other airline partners. The program no longer charges carrier surcharges and only applies a nominal $39 fee for booking partner award flights. Award flights for travel on Air Canada are dynamically priced - which means some flights could cost a lot of Aeroplan points but on the flipside there are lots that are great deals as well. As always the key is be flexible in your booking options and you'll be able to make the most of your transfers from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Aeroplan.
