March 15 Update: Marriott elites can now select their annual choice benefits, Accor Hotels offering COVID-19 test kits at Canadian & US hotels, World of Hyatt peak & off peak pricing coming soon

Accor Hotels is rolling out COVID-19 testing kits at their hotels across the U.S. and Canada. These kits will be available for purchase at the hotel which does make it ideal if you require a negative test to return home (wherever that it is!) Here are the details provided to us by Accor:

Starting this month, guests can purchase PreCheck PCR testing kits by x.labs at all Accor- managed hotels in the U.S. and Canada. PreCheck kits combine the latest in smart tech and digital healthcare with an in-app wellness and symptom survey, FDA-approved Bluetooth smart thermometer and FDA-authorized COVID-19 self-collection diagnostic PCR test that provides results in as little as 24-48 hours.

To celebrate the opening of the 1,000th Hyatt Hotel worldwide, (the Alila Napa Valley, World of Hyatt has doubled their ongoing new hotels promotion to 1,000 points per night! And on that list is one of their new hotels in Canada the Hyatt Place Ottawa West which is scheduled to open on May 21. That means you can earn 1,000 bonus points per night at this location from that date until June 30. Learn more here.

And continuing on with Hyatt - late last week they announced they are going ahead with some hotels changing categories in the World of Hyatt program. A total of 10 hotels will be moving up one category while one hotel drops down. No hotels in Canada have been affected by this. More importantly the delayed peak and off peak award pricing will now take affect this coming July. These were originally slated to lauch early in 2020 but were delayed due to the pandemic.
