November 16 Update: Two big AIR MILES earning events coming soon, Radisson Rewards extends inactive points accounts & Swoop expands in Edmonton

Several times over the past few weeks we've brought you the details of some hotel loyalty programs extending points expiry but were warning about World of Hyatt and Radisson Rewards Americas as they had not announced any plans to do so. In fact with Radisson they sent an email to me saying my points will be expiring at the end of the year several weeks ago but just last week another email came in with the following:

In October you received an email from us regarding your points expiring at the end of December. As a thank you for being a valuable member of Radisson Rewards Americas we have added 100 points to your account to keep your point balance active. Your points will no longer expire on December 31, 2021, and will be active for another 24 months.

Thank you to Radisson Rewards Americas for this move! Now I don't have to convert points or figure out some other way to redeem them in the next month. When I logged into my account I did see my balance is 100 points higher however the 100 points doesn't actually show in my transaction list.

WestJet's ULCC Swoop announced a major route expansion out of Edmonton yesterday. The airline will be adding routes to 8 cities in Canada and one to Palm Springs. The Palm Springs flights will commence on December 16 while the domestic expansion is for the Summer 2022 season and includes flights to/from Charlottetown, Comox, Halifax, Kelowna, Moncton, Ottawa, Regina and Saskatoon.
