Top 5 Small Business Credit Card Sign Up offers for August - These cards provide the best value out of their welcome bonuses

Here are the Rewards Canada Top 5 Small Business Credit Card Sign Up offers for this month! This is not a 'best' credit card list like our Top Travel Rewards Credit Card rankings but instead a look at cards for small businesses that have very good acquisition (welcome/sign up) offers. As always when choosing a card you should always take other factors into account other than the just sign up bonus, but when some of these cards are first year free, they can and do pay off even when you grab them strictly for the sign up rewards.

This month we see three first year free cards on the list! And remember this list is based on minimum value towards travel which we calculate as the minimum value of the welcome bonus less the annual fee. It is entirely possible to receive more value out of the welcome bonuses on all of these cards since they earn Aeroplan points or allow you to convert to Aeroplan -  which can provide some huge outsized value rewards!

Here are our top 5 small business credit card sign up offers for August:

CIBC® Aeroplan® Visa* Business Card
Minimum value: $1,200

CIBC's equivalent of the above TD card has a new offer this month that provides up to 60,000 Aeroplan points, a Buddy Pass and an annual fee rebate. All told the points and buddy pass are worth no less than $1,500 in our minds and in reality should be worth much more than that.

CIBC® Aeroplan® Visa* Business Plus Card
Minimum value: $1,200

The lower fee version of CIBC's Business Aeroplan cards also provides up to 60,000 Aeroplan points, a Buddy Pass and an annual fee rebate. All told the points and buddy pass are worth no less than $1,500 in our minds and in reality should be worth much more than that. The main difference between the non-Plus and Plus is the annual fee being lower but you need to meet more stringent application requirements.

American Express® Aeroplan®* Business Reserve Card

Minimum value: $1,051
In the first year with this card you can earn up 110,000 Aeroplan Points with this card. The points are worth $1,650 and take away the $599 annual fee and you have no less than $1,051 in value with this card! For most you should be able to get even more value out of that since we are value Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents each and it is easy to get well above 2 cents per point. Add in the extras this card has like Maple Leaf Lounge access, strong earn and a spend based companion pass make this card a must for small business looking to earn Aeroplan points.

Business Platinum Card® from American Express

Minimum value: $601
This card is offering 110,000 points when you spend $7,000 within the first three months. The points are worth a minimum of $1,100 when you redeem for any travel or a statement credit. Subtract the $499 annual fee and you have our value of $601. This is a minimum however as you can also redeem via Amex's Fixed Points for Travel which can double that value or you can convert the points to Aeroplan, British Airways and other programs to earn even more value as well.

If you went for all these cards you ultimately could end up with nearly $5,000 in travel credits but even if you only take on one or two you are helping your travel budget significantly at no cost other than regular credit card spend. We don't really recommend getting all five in one month unless you know you can meet the minimum spend for them all at once, rather you'd want to pick one or two right now, perhaps another next month and so on.
