Aeroplan made several changes to their reward ticket change policy today. The first changes see them removing change fees on one more award ticket economy fare class:
- Aeroplan’s Economy Flex fare option now includes waived change fees alongside Economy Latitude, Premium Economy (flexible), Business Class (flexible) and First Class (flexible) fare options.
They have also simplified the structure of the change fee for the reward ticket fare classes that do have fees levied:
- Economy Standard, Premium Economy (lowest), Business Class (lowest) and First Class (lowest) fare options allow changes alongside a CDN $100 anytime change fee (per direction, per ticket).
For changes made 60 days or longer on Aeroplan rewards this is an increase of $25 per direction per ticket for all those fare classes.
They have also extended their flexible change policy that was instituted for the pandemic to July 5:

Next week will see the revamped Scotiabank Platinum and Red American Express cards launch but it appears that Scotiabank may not be done there. Our astute terms and conditions detective Josh C. noticed that Scene+ had posted a change to their terms and conditions that stated earn rate changes were coming to the Scotia Visa and Amex cards on October 1. That has since been corrected and the terms only show the upcoming July 1 changes to the two Scotia Amex cards. That does however raise the question, will we see some changes to their other cards on October 1? Namely the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite card and Scotia Gold American Express Card since it mentions Visa and Amex? We'll just have to wait and see!

If you read U.S. and/or U.K. points and miles blogs you may have seen that the UK British Airways American Express card and U.S. Chase British Airways card's companion vouchers can now be redeemed for solo travellers. The new option provides a 50% discount in the Avios required for a reward ticket when redeeming as a solo traveller. This is great enhancement to the vouchers for those cards and wondered if the same holds true for the Canadian British Airways co-brand card. We reached out to British Airways and RBC to see if the same policy will be applied to the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite Card's companion voucher. News came back today from BA that this unfortunately is not the case. At this time Canadian companion vouchers will remain just that, a voucher to use for a travelling companion.
