Air Canada reached out to us today to let us know of a new benefit being added for their top tier Super Elite members. This benefit will kick in once Air Canada's on-board service returns to offering Air Canada Bistro service.
Here is what Air Canada told us:
Complimentary In-Flight Refreshment
Beginning when we reintroduce Air Canada Bistro service onboard, and subject to the product selection available on your flight, Aeroplan Super Elite members can enjoy one free alcoholic beverage and one free snack item when traveling on Air Canada, Air Canada Express or Air Canada Rouge in Economy Class. Note that alcoholic beverages up to a value of $6.95 are eligible, while meal and fresh snack options (such as sandwiches and salads) are not eligible.
This new benefit is being added on top of those new benefits already revealed on August 11 that will come when the new Aeroplan program launches on November 8. You can learn more about those changes here: https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/aeroplan/status.html
Although it might seem minute, this is nice little gesture and benefit for those top tier flyers who are in the back of the bus and didn't clear any upgrades to be bumped up front. My only thought is that it would be nice to have one major meal items or fresh snack option included however as that cost would be minimal for the airline in regards to a traveller that generates a decent amount of revenue for them.
