Targeted American Express Referral Bonuses with large sign up bonuses!

Some American Express cardmembers including myself have been receiving targeted offers for referring friends to American Express. One of my readers, Randy received an offer of 15,000 Bonus Aeroplan Miles for referring friends or family to the AeroplanPlus Platinum card while I received an offer of 10,000 Bonus Membership Rewards points for a Gold Rewards Card referral.

If anyone is interested in my referral you will actually get 20,000 Membership Rewards points if you spend $500 in the first three months on the American Express Gold Rewards (that sign up bonus is 5,000 more than the regular offering for the card and the highest offering yet for this card). Here is the referral link.

By the way the AeroplanPlus Platinum offer is for 51,000 Aeroplan Miles (the highest ever sign up bonus in Canada to date) comprised of 25,000 upon approval and 26,000 with $1,000 in

  1. The highest sign up bonus on the market is the 60k currently being offered for referee to the regular Plat, with the bonus for referring being decided by your card level (15k from plat, 10k from gold).

All Amex cardholders can benefit from these referral bonuses to get friends and family to join as they are on the homepage:

  2. if i do not have the amex platinum charge card (i only have gold), can i still refer someone for the platinum card? (ie, will i get the 15,000 points, and the person i refer will get 60,000)?

  3. You will certainly get 10k, and some people have reported 15k.

To get the 10k, go to the above link, select your card being Gold Rewards, then select refer card, then select refer a different card, then select the platinum card.

It has been reported that if you select the plat card as your card, then select refer and it generates plat and you enter your gold card number then you will still get the 15k instead of 10k.

I have the Plat so cannot confirm or deny. Plat is a great deal at 699 with 2x200 dollar travel credits and 60k points not to mention all the benefits esp. Marco Polo Gold giving *-wide benefits.

  4. I've tried to e-mail you at the e-mail address embedded by it is returned unsent to me, i.e. info@rewardscanada.ca is not working. I'm interested in getting the referral to the higher bonus for the Amex Gold Rewards Business card. I currently have the Platimium card but that has just gone up $200! I will not be renewing it but want to save my Membership Rewards points accumulated.

    1. Hi Kikou, not sure why the emails are bouncing back to you, there don't seem to be any issues on our end. Try sending it to psojka@rewardscanada.ca to see if that works. Thanks

  5. Do you have any idea when BA will give extra 50% for MR points? Usually it is 1:1 but this past May BA offered the bonus. I have 250K points to transfer. Thanks.

    1. A lot of times it is around the same time as the RBC Avion Transfer bonus which will be running Nov 1- Dec 31, 12 so hopefully Membership Rewards does the same.
