The Star Alliance welcomed Avianca TACA and COPA Airlines into the alliance which means that you can earn and burn Aeroplan miles for flights on these airlines. These latest additions to the alliance give them some strength in Central and South America that has been lacking since losing Varig a few years ago. Watch for Avianca TACA LifeMiles buy miles offers which seem to run every 3 months or so where they give you double miles and the opportunity to fly in Business Class on the cheap.
