Air Canada not code sharing on TAP Trans Atlantic Flights

Apparently Air Canada has not placed their code on the TAP Trans-Atlantic flights as was originally planned

  1. Not entirely sure if this plays a part into Air Canada not going ahead with this code share but the EU has started an Anti-Competition probe of
Star Alliance members Air Canada, Lufthansa, Continental and United Airlines and One World's American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia. The investigations are into transatlantic routes between Europe and North America.

I know TAP is not mentioned in the probe but they are a Star Alliance member which could have meant that these flights could have come under investigation as well.

Of course this is all speculation on my part and I have been known to be wrong in the past. :-)
